^ Craziness. Look like they took down Imaging-Resource. Times are definitely changing.

Interesting to have one nearly defunct photography website posting stories about another photography website's demise.

Interesting might not be the word I'd have chosen but I see your point.

Imaging-resource closing? Such a pity. I visited imaging-resource quite often , they had good camera reviews and tests, especially their 30x40" print test. Times are changing. People don't like taking good pictures with real cameras anymore?

^ Things seem to be shifting more towards video. I see that trend with most people that I know. They don't mind looking at photos, but they get bored very quickly. They rather see videos. Photography oriented websites seem to be a dying trend.

The fact that camera sales have been in freefall for the past several years is a pretty good hint regarding that.

Video stimulate more senses (audio + motion), naturally more hypnotic, the brain just tune in what's going on. Making good pictures that capture attention is not easy, at the end of the day, not so many photographers have that peculiar photographer's eye.

I just noticed the same thing. The article I was wanting wasn't there, but at least it did redirect to a photography interest site.

From I-R founder Dave Etchells...

QuoteQuote:
After wondering why the Imaging Resource (IR) was seeing so few updates recently, a number of people noticed that it seemed to have vanished from the internet as of sometime last Friday, May 5. Had another “OG” photo review website bitten the dust?

Unfortunately, I have the sad task of telling everyone that the site I first founded back in April of 1998 is indeed no more.

It’s a long tale of woe, but the most tragic part is that IR was this close to finding new life under a subscription model.
