Pentax gets the back cover.

I entered a competition a few months ago to win the full sized shot on the cover of The Maritime Wedding Directory. It's distributed in the 3 Eastern provinces here in Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island)

The publication is supported by a web site and the publication is in every wedding related shop, every bridal show as a gift bag stuffer etc. There were 211 entries and I came in second.

So I was disappointed to say the least. They called me and said they had a hard time choosing between the 2 shots. The other one got the nod. So I let it go. Well they called back and said they liked the photo so much, that they wanted it as the back cover instead of using the space for advertising. If I wanted to pay a small fee, I had the rear cover and could design the photo as I wanted to.

So in the end, I got the better placement, because the rear cover shows my web site etc. The front is only the photo and the Directory name.

It runs from March 1 2010 to March 1 2011. I wonder what next year will bring?

Congratulations Peter, this should be a great boost for your business.

I hope you let us know if you see any measurable results from it, I'm sure we're all interested on how effective that kind of exposure is.

Congratulations. It is a very nice picture. I've never been to PEI but think it's a very beautiful place.

Regards,

Peter

Congratulations. Your photo brought back fond memories of last fall's visit to PEI.

Wow Peter. That is great. And it's a great shot. Seems as though you got the better deal by coming in second. (Still think your work is always first rate though) Now if we could get you to stop double spacing after periods.

I'm very glad for you, Peter. I hope the extra exposure you get with the magazine will be worth the expense.

There comes a time when the so-called "runner-up" wins.
Great chance for promotion.

YES!

Well done Peter!

I have been to PEI and went digging clams at sunset in the red sand. A lovely place, but then again almost all of Canada is lovely.

Darn Gandalf. I would have loved to meet up with you here if I'd known you were here. I'm in the Pentax wilderness here. This whole province looks like Hobbiton. Funny I just introduced my step son to LOTR last weekend with a 10 hour marathon.

Sorry.

George.

I'll.

Do.

Better.

Thanks to everyone else for the comments. I'm pleased. Pentax will be involved with this to a degree as well and the finished version will sport their logo as well. So it will get some Pentax advertising around the region as well.
Below is a shot from my assistant's camera (a Nikon). and the cover. The way this worked out, I'm glad the other guy won the cover. his name will be on the inside.

Congratulations! But I don't see how having the back cover is second place!
