81 AF points? Now that's a number

But I hope the camera's accurate enough for all that...

This is basically a castrated K-5. They made a mirrorless for the sake of making a mirrorless and were very careful that it does not cannibalize the sales of DSLRs. I don't see any single reason why K-5 owners - and that would be a huge portion of the targetted K-mount lens owning population - would want to purchase one of these. Fail :P
K-x/K-r owners like me do want some of this. I think there are still more low-end owners than high-end ones. I just hope it does better than how Pentax talks about it

if it focuses much faster and accurately than the K-5 and has much better IQ than the K-5 or NEX-5n, and has focus peaking and AF-tracking, then it's worth the shot. I would prefer if they would sell the K-01 with the new kit DA40 at $750, which would make it much more tempting for new dslr buyers and possibly buyers who are considering the K-5. the K-5 is still expensive at $1,000 or $900. so something cost less than the K-5 and castrated but is still an improvement would be much more tempting than the K-5. the K-5's dirty sensor, flash problems still scare me.

It's the same sensor as the K-5, so the same, 1.5.

My understanding is that the dirty sensor problems were of the older gen sensors, and all the current gen ones will not stain?

Judging from the last two releases from Pentax makes me wonder if staying with them because of a few old lens I had was a good idea.If I were getting into dslr now instead of a year ago it might be another brand.Cameras without a viewfinder won't go well with long time Pentax users but might gain some from the higher end point and shoot crowd.

Long time Pentax users are probably waiting for the EVF to be released, the k-r to be replaced, and the k-5 to be replaced.

Me, I'm waiting for that k-5 replacement.

The camera does not feature and electronic viewfinder, but could support an optical viewfinder in the flash hot shoe. The cameras screen is used for live view and focusing appeared reasonably quick, although not as quick as the quickest mirrorless cameras available.

No EVF... WTF?

What's the point of K mount if it's not a camera for photographers? The thing only works for video, for stills it's useless.

No WR just adds to the fail.

Completely disapointed.

there is now a sort of a viewfinder screen display magnifier accessory. it is not your typical EVF but it would be definitely better than an EVF.
