Guess the price of the k-01

The Q was on sale at Fry's this for $699. If the K-01 comes in much over that price point, with Pentax trying to battle the Sony's and Nikon's of the world, the K-01 will sit unless it has features we don't know about yet to set it apart....

It should be around or a bit less than the cost of the K-r it is replacing to be of interest.

40Kit +100$

Probably 100$ more than this, i.e., more than Sony. I.e., 40Kit at MSRP 999$

Ok! I'll play $699 for the body and $799 with the 40/2.8.

P.S: The lowest possible is $699 for the kit but it could easily be around $999 for the kit too. But, my original guess stands.

I can't imagine Pentax positioning it below the Q in price... but it would be nice if they did.

That's good news though. I guess our friendly neighborhood sellers - Adorama and B&H - will be putting it up for pre-sale then. I've already seen pages at several sellers in Asia and the Middle East for the K-01 but with no pictures, specs, or pricing. They did have these amazingly vapid statements about its greatness though - just no actual information

Seems like a bit too much of a price jump for the two standard kit lenses. Last I checked it was less than $200 additional with the K-r for them. Also, who does whole numbers for release prices (or those that end in zeros)? Anyway, we shall see in <9 hours.

This means "OMG that's cheap for the K-5 sensor. So cheap in fact that I'm willing to live without OVF/EVF" pricing!!!!

At that price it would make a great back up to a K5 (or travel / holiday camera). Definitely on the short list.

Agree, that would be a great backup for k-5 or one for travelling.
