the k-01 design is fine, its just that the new 40mm doesn't appeal me, I wish it was something like 24mm f/2.

Well, remember all those times when people were saying: "imagine a small camera body paired with the DA 40 - that would be really small!". I guess somebody read the forums and thought they had a market nailed already.

You asked for it - you got it. Not too small, but that it can not be - and does not need to be. it uses SLR lenses after all which - with the exception of pancakes are not small either.

But with lens is looks much better than without one. That's for sure.

The 'R' (=reflex) part of the name, refers to the mirror and as there's no mirror in the K-01, it is not a DSLR.

Wouldn't want to hold that at arms length though. Better with pancakes.

Looks perfect like that darrenleow, but it should have an EVF.

A 24mm f2 would be better, I agree. I prefer wider lenses. That being said I do sometimes run around with nothing but a 50mm attached to my camera, so hmm...

Btw., seen the pics of the new Olympus OM-D? OM-G. Another retro styled EVIL camera. Why can't they do that to a DSLR? Why Pentax?

They look real.

They're a mix of both. Yes, one had a bit of sloppy screen printing, but the one with the XS lens on the 'K-5' is clearly just a rendering.

I'm sure the detail shots are real but I'm hoping that both the full camera shots and the spec are wrong.

If this is as bad as it looks on paper, it could be a huge flop for Pentax and a bit of very unimaginative design by Newson's outfit.

The grip looks like the one on an A3/A3000. The silver on the "Prism" hump looks tacky and distracts from the benefit of having all the top mounted controls silver.

I am suddenly very happy that I sold my K-x a couple of weeks ago and switched to a different system. Thank you Pentax for convincing me that I made the right choice in leaving, after 20 years as a Pentax customer.

Because, I think, that if they followed Fuji the Pentax design wouldn't be any "different" and that wouldn't be so Pentax...
