I got a used/reboxed camera sold as new.

Some guy named Newson engraved it on the bottom in orange ink, then had the brass to return it.!!!

I think, I have seen mentioned in one of those rumors article. Hope they are right.

I haven't looked at images of the ricoh cameras closely before and now I realised the grip is like the one in the GXR (http://c758710.r10.cf2.rackcdn.com/img/RICOH_CTA.jpg) so I think that person who said this was a ricoh project rather than a pentax project was right. Maybe developed by ricoh then rebranded as pentax. So hopefully it wont have the QC problems

The 4-way functions are oriented differently.

I think current Pentax DSLR owners won't like it due to lack of a VF, but it will be extremely appealing to people looking for a high-end body for snapshots and video.
Does this mean it's actually positioned below DSLRs and above P&S, sort of a full-manual...compact ILC? Like a Canon G-series with interchangeable? Or more of like direct competition for the Nikon CX format and M4/3?

Coz if it sits above the K-r (or its future replacement) for example... it makes the lineup really weird.

Definitely gonna be positioned *below* the kr, definitely. This is a basic package which will nevertheless deliver amazing iq. At a low price point.

Then the K-r replacement should perform at least like the K-5, to justify the K-01's position...
