I'll stick with the K-5 or its replacement. The Fuji XP1 would be my first choice for mirror-less at this point. K-mount adapter and the Fuji would be fine . The new OM-D is looking interesting, but I expect Olympus is over hyping it. I don't really see much advantage to the K-01 over a K-5. K-5 is practically just as small and has better performance.

Unless the K-01 has significantly better AF speed/accuracy and much better DR/high IOS I don't see any advantage.

The K-01 would be a my 5th choice for a mirror-less if I go that route.

Fuji XP1
Olympus OM-D
Panasonic GX-1
Olympus E-P3
Sony NEX-7
Pentax K-01

Hell no. When I've sucked all the life out of my K-r, I'll move on to the K-5. I strongly suspect I'd be happy using the K-5 for the next 20 years, if only that were possible.

I've never been an early adopter, mainly due to low budget (can't afford an unproven model of anything), so a K-5 replacement isn't on my personal roadmap for years.

I don't plan on selling any of my current cameras after I get my pre-ordered K-01. Is there really people here that only own one camera ?

selling or throwing in a drawer is effectively the same

Not really interested in the K-01 yet.
I already have too many cameras, including a NEX.
Also mirrorless is just not good for some stuff I do a lot of - eg telephoto - and the bright Aussie outdoors (especially without an OVF).

If I take the K-01 as a substitute for my K7, it won't do, because I have some magnificent mf Zeiss lenses for which I require a viewfinder. I will upgrade to K5, or more likely, to the post-K5 DSLR.
If I take the K-01 as a lightweight system to maintain next to the DSLR, there are (less bulky, more lightweight) options that appeal to me more, like the X100.

I do plan to buy a K-01 in yellow. Not to replace my K-5's, but just to use for leisure with the 40mm.

Definitely, YES! The yellow one.
I'm shooting with DA 21, DA 40 and FA 77 only. K-01 will fit perfectly.

No. No real interest in shooting higher end video and unless the output in still form is significantly better than the K-5 it's not going to replace either my K-x or K-5 for still photography.

*If* I were to move to mirrorless, it wouldn't be the K-01. That camera, to me, seems to combine the worst aspects of DSLRs with the worst aspects of mirrorless cameras. The end-result is a half-baked product that doesn't excel in either area. Its as big and heavy as a full-fledged (albeit entry-level) DSLR, with PDAF and a viewfinder. In fact, it looks like they took such a DSLR, ripped out the mirror, PDAF and OVF, gave that to a designer who did something to it that I'm not too fond of (with chimney and all), and kept the price on the same level! In that respect, I think it's ridiculous. Maybe if it had an EVF it would make some sense, but it doesn't.

Perhaps I will stay with DSLR technology, or move to mirrorless. But whatever I do, I would want the product that I choose to be optimized for the system it is. MFT looks good in that regard I think.

I think the only positive aspect about the K-01 is that it stands out. And as a small player, maybe you have to stand out. So they succeeded in that way. But in many other ways, I think they may have failed. And I highly doubt a review will change my mind.

The K-01 is a very interesting camera. I will need to wait and see how it tests with reviewers and how actual users like the camera. If it had an option for an EVF it would move up my list for mirrorless cameras to purchase for my carry with me camera when my two K-5 and K-7 cameras are too much.

Right now my list for a mirrorless camera purchase is:
1. Olympus EM-5
2. Sony Nex7
3. Fuji X1 Pro.

Notice how these cameras all have built-in EVF. The K-01 could have made the list with an add-on EVF option since I do have a lot of Pentax lenses while with the cameras on my list I will have to buy some lenses to go with the camera.

Now if I remember the Pentax R&D official interview he mentioned 100% viewfinders and smaller DSLR. So I am expecting some interesting cameras to come out this year. Rumors already have mention a K300 and the K-30. I am guessing these are going to be the replacements for the K-r and K-5 and with the rumor names I will expect each one to be weather-sealed. Amy guess is a mid-summer announcement for these cameras. There has to be new dslr cameras coming out since the K-r is discontinued and the K-5 is priced only $250 above the K-01 which will hurt th K-01 sales. I do see a dslr in the $1,000+ range and another in the$1,500+ range by mid-summer.

So I might go mirrorless with another company or wait until the upcoming (no leaks yet) dslr cameras that are suppose to be slightly smaller and will have a lot of the K-01 features to them.

I make yearly camera purchases, and the video of the K-01 is what interests me. If the K-r replacement can do all of what the K-01 does, then I will buy that. If not, I will buy the K-01.

Since it doesn't look like I will see the replacement for my K5 in 2012, I'm looking for the replacement for my K10D and video backup for my K5. It will be up to what the K-r's replacement's spec will be.

This year my priorities are..

1) Tamron 70-200mm 2.8
2) Zacuto EVF
3) K-r replacement or K-01

As stated before, I have a strong feeling of getting one in black or yellow. The DA21, 40XS and 77 would fit perfectly
