Its cobbled together. I'm waiting til the real thing is released, and then, I'll wait longer to see what its performance is like. In the meantime... K-5.

From a design standpoint, it's just plain wrong. You have to press your nose on the LCD like with a reflex camera, but being an EVIL they could have put the viewfinder all to the left, leaving your nose free. This is retro-look just for the sake of coolness, but it's wrong in a photographic tool. IMO.

Not for left-eyed people, though! (about 1/3 of the population)

Yes. As someone who naturally shoots left this would make little difference to me. It's more important to me that the button layout be conducive to the way I shoot. I do have a habit of occasionally pressing LV with my nose, that gets annoying.

Is shooting left really the minority? I'm entirely right handed, not sure if there's any relation between the two.

For left eyed people that would mean to have the nose on the LCD instead on the back of your hand. I see only good things for everyone to have the viewfinder all to the left. Or left eyed people don't buy Leica?

I'd not think of moving from DSLR to mirrorless, but having both would be nice. K-01 for relaxed shooting/video/street ext. and (soon cheap, update to my K-7) K-5 for nice wildlife, landscape, theatre shots...

Or on the LV button, as the previous commenter Yes, you may have a point there.

I actually use a *ist D, K200d, K20d and an MZ-3 for work related stuff as well as personal stuff. In addition to those I have a GF2.

As "boring" as the OM-D looks Ogl, it looks far more ergonomical than the K-01's design.. even though I think the K-01 looks "cooler"

Negative. I wear bifocals and have enough trouble seeing the LCD. I can't imagine holding it out in front of me to compose a picture with a 300mm lens.
This is my single biggest objection. Presbyopia is the curse of rear-screen only cameras. I've never owned a camera without a viewfinder for exactly that reason.

The Oly compared

The new offering from Olympus has an EVF. Now Olympus started this mirrorless thing and even they have come around to the idea of a EFV for other than the casual photographer.
I hope Pentax adds/has an EVF in their next offering. I believe staying with the K-mount was a great idea ( I would say that as I have lot of it) Small size is not that important to me in fact I want a camera that is comfortable to hold like my K-5 is.
I would have bought K-01 if only it had a EVF with out it I can't.

It looks like my K-7 will be the last DSLR I buy since my last two were the GH2 and GH1 and I have the K-01 on pre-order.

And I am gradually divesting myself of cameras without viewfinders, or the option for after-market VF... for exactly the same reason... presbyopia (combined with long term myopia.)
