I read it. I can understand wanting an eye-level viewfinder; that makes sense, and the k-5 has one. But I fail to see what you want an electronic one for specifically.
Do you really not understand? My troll radar is pinging here.

1. You can put the camera against your FACE not a yard away

2. An evf gives you information and auto-focus confirm in the viewfinder. This isn't possible with an ovf unless a mirror is involved.

Its not difficult to fathom.

nope, neither is wanting the real time good in low light OVF.

I would think this is just the first of the mirrorless k mounts so we probably will see a model with EVF (built in preferably rather than as an add on that costs $350 + )

In a parallel universe, where Pentax still made sense, they would have released this:

Given the body isn't so small already, just add 2-3cm to the height and cram an EVF there, FFS. Heck, you might even lose the back LCD if you can display all the info on the EV. And the mode dial position was just retarded.

I mean... come on! What kind of pipe are they smoking at Pentax product management? They just released a camera that solves a problem no one asked for:

- It's mirrorless, but doesn't offer an EVF
- It's mirrorless, but not much compact either
- Sturdy body, but not WR
- No Sv, TAv mode
- Awesome video features, but capped as a video cam since sensor overheats

The only thing it works for is video, but given it's K-mount, how many people are willing to buy into a whole new system and get new glass just to shoot video with a camera that is useless for stills?

Pentax had the opportunity to release a really good K-mount mirrorless, but it seems they think mirrorless is not more than a toy (see Q) or only makes sense for video (K-01). It's a real shame because Canon, Nikon and Fuji will keep releasing increansigly better mirrorless cameras until a point they make sense for semi-pro/pro use, and then Pentax will be again stuck in the market - just like they lost the transition from 35mm to digital.
What is your asking price for this camera?

Why is it impossible? The camera knows when focus is achieved, so why couldn't it send confirmation to the viewfinder? The X-100 gives a lot of information in the viewfinder. I don't know if it confirms auto-focus, but there is no reason it couldn't do it so exactly the way the DSLRs do.

Yeah, you are really just talking about a flashing LED or the like.

But to all those who are soooo unhappy now: Don't be religious about brand names; go find another brand and model that suits you better (or build one and take the commercial risk yourself).
I can only speak for myself, but I'm assuming others think alike: The reason why I'm passionate about Pentax is because I like the products they have been producing. I'd like Pentax to do well. Ask me whether I care about Canon releasing something I'd never buy.

In other words, what many regard as "hate" is "frustration" about someone/something you care about not doing as well as you believe it would have been possible.

I understand a lot of pentaxians are very passionate of having a pentax camera with OVF/EVF. I applaud the idea too.

I have tried my brother's GF2 without a EVF, I find that I can live without an OVF/EVF. Not ideal but I can certainly live without.

What I really wanted from Pentax though is an implementation of a swivel screen! A swivel screen allows one to shoot from low level so much easier without breaking the back. Unfortunately that is not impemented so I hope Pentax can do that in the upcoming K-3, K-n, or whatever they want to call it....
