Since the K-mount is Pentax's main argument to continue the current DSLR and now new mirrorless line, I had a vision:
the moment Pentax releases a body with an upgraded (or should I say downgraded?) K-mount that supports mechanical aperture coupling as well to use with any K and M lens still out there in the universe without "green button hassle", they're back in business. That is, if they try and do a tiny little bit of advertisement worldwide to wake up some sleepers. No matter FF of APS-C. If they are smart being a bit classical in appearance will help too.

Biggest drawback is environmental because all the manuals of the new camera's will become huge with tables of lenses / supported features.

Wow. It does look pretty bad, even at iso 200. Oh well, it'll be fine for facebook postings and things like that...

Well, the 9 fps has no auto focus, right? To have auto focus, you can only shoot 4 fps, I believe. Never quite understood that. The only situation where I can think of where you would want high fps without auto focus is if you have prefocused on an area (say a soccer goalie) and are expecting some event. Otherwise you just end up with 9 out of focus images.

Here are some other samples, up to ISO 25600.

OM-D E-M5 ISO TEST (by???) Part I - 4/3 M43 ????? - ??? ??4/3?M43???? Olympus / Panasonic Hong Kong forum

Of course, we have yet to see any results from production cameras so will be interesting to see how they look. The E-P3 is good enough for me, and I can't imagine the E-M5 being worse.

For instance, here is 12,800:

Looks like some links aren't working in the forum thread, so check here for the photobucket links:

edit: I would say that 3200 is about as far as I would want to go.

I would push it to 6400 if the situation requires and do some post with. But beyond that it is hardly worth the effort.

Agreed on ISO 3200...

That is at ISO 6400.. there's so much destructive effect on the image quality already that you can't even read some of the smaller letters. ISO 25600 is just a joke.

Yeah, 25600 is just so they can brag about it, don't think anyone will find it practically useful.

As for noise reduction, will be nice to see how a decently processed raw file compares to the jpegs. Lightroom 3 has pretty impressive NR.

The Yellow K-01 is the top selling color on Amazon:

YELLOW: Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #3,448 in Camera & Photo
WHITE: Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #8,023 in Camera & Photo
BLACK: Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #6,234 in Camera & Photo

The Fuji has fallen, but it is because Amazon has sold out and it is back to a waiting list.
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #525 in Camera & Photo. Maybe Pentax can catch Fuji before more stock arrives..... Maybe....

All four of the Olympus options are listed in the top 10 of Amazons sales rankings.
Amazon Best Sellers Rank:
#1 in Electronics > Camera & Photo > Digital Cameras > Compact System Cameras
#18 in Camera & Photo > Lenses ALL BLACK BODY WITH KIT LENS.

We know all of Fuji sales are to "NEW" users.

Since the Olympus body + kit lens is ranking so strong you have to assume a large number of buyers are new to the system. Body only sales for Olympus are also really strong so their must be a significant number of "upgrading" existing buyers.

The K-01 is falling like a rock. I figured there would be a weekend sales bump for the K-01, but there was no bump. The K-01 continues to fall.

NOTE: If you don't think the sales rankings from the largest on-line retailer are a good source then please post a more accurate source for sales rankings before bitching about it.

43 Rumors | Blog | HOT: Complete Olympus E-M5 ISO test

You can see the noise reduction at work, and this does not appear to be really challenging light, but this actually very good for a camera at this price point.

Yeah, I do want to see a raw file done in LR3 or similar before passing judgment though; it is rare that in-camera NR is particularly impressive.

The four thirds system has always been not bad upto 1600 ISO. For some, that can be enough.
One of the good things about the four thirds system is the sort of inherent built in ability of producing high quality images with a bit of depth with fast lenses
used wide open. The ability to use a wider aprature makes up a bit for the lack of high ISO performance.
I never like going above 800 ISO and used that as my basic ceiling, so there is some improvement in performance.
