No, that appears to be the biggest reservation of the owners of the MFT cameras with attachable viewfinders too.
I've never understood why the higher end models don't have some kind of port for the external flash or wireless function.

I agree, the K-5 is for still shooters that sometimes shoot video and the K-01 is for video shooters that sometimes shoot stills.
Good observation, that crystalizes it for me. I don't shoot video, so I'd best stay with DSLR's. An APS-C or FF MILC with EVF and PDCD AF would be a game-changer. ICTIYCBTA.

(I can translate if you're confused by the acronyms.)

as a video shooter who's going to use a loupe anyway, I'm very happy to have a camera that seems basically identical, minus the mirror and the VF, for $450 less (we still have to confirm that the sensor is the same as in the K5, though)

Not sure if they're all priced this way, but the one advertised on Adam's homepage -- on the now defunct K-01 is coming page no less -- is the price of the camera. [!] Maybe that's not too steep for some, but looking at it on a utilitarian scale what it offers is nowhere near what the camera offers at the equal cost of the whole camera.

I use it regularly when I shoot hand held video.

If you are concerned about the lack of a viewfinder, you're missing the point of the camera and likely aren't part of the target market for this product. Buy an SLR (hopefully a K5) as it is better suited to your needs.. The EVF would add a couple of hundred dollars to the price and make it less attractive to new Pentax users.

That connector will be quite big if it uses the 'standard' connector used by Pentax. Unless you want to fiddle with adapter cables which, due to volumes produced, will probably expensive.

Nice, but they really should have used a supermoto - would have been soo much cooler backing it into turn and going all dirttrack style. Oh, and there's a typo in the credits.

FWIW, I bought the SmallHD DP4 field monitor for video. I've loaned it to my wife for tabletop shots of her pottery and flower macros. Works great for stills too.

If your K-01 absolutely must have a vf, how would one of these suit you?

Wow, I wonder how I ever shot video handheld with my K-7 using a 300mm (450mm FF eqiv) without a VF !
