What if a K-02 like this?

A mirrorless camera with a 24×24mm cmos, and looks like a 120 6×6 SLR .....errr

That is even the sweetest idea I see.

To see it more easier:

If this is not okay, just say so I remove it.
The sensor could even be a little bigger. Like 27 x 27mm making it twice the size of APS-C.

That would take the "bottle bottom" lens quality epithet to a whole new level .

Neat design, could work well.
Does that include an optical or electric viewfinder at the rear?

Look a little like polaroid

It could work very well for not to long lenses. Cramming all electronics in and keeping it small is also a task. But I like the idea!

24x24mm is too small. 6x6cm is a good start.

Well the startpoint here is K-mount and not one of the others (645 of 6x7).

Oh, so you worry about mere lenses? I'll just put medium-format enlarger lenses on extension, no problem.

Any PK-mount lens should support 36x36mm frame, not measly little 24x24mm. The larger frame is 2.25x the area of the smaller. I couldn't pretend its results would be like Verichrome Pan, but it would be pretty awesome.

No it doesn't support 36x36mm with K-mount without dark edges. It supports 36x24mm and adjusting to a square you will get less then 36mm. No idea how much, but it should be just a thing of mathematics.

It can be bigger then 24x24, so that would be a good idea.

The topicstarter came with this nice sketch and would like a square sensor. It can hold a regular 3:2 sensor, but it can also be 4:3 or 1:1 in size.

This is a very small camera looking at the sketch. I do wonder if all needed electronics fit into it, but this is a thing that could hold nice in our hands.

Just leave out the non-essentials like a viewfinder and LCD and surely it will be nice and compact.

Wel looking at the drawings, this is already a very small thing.

Smart thinking a square lcd on top of the camera for that square sensor. And it is a big screen, just over 3 inches diameter using all the space that is there. I like the originality and input.

You're right. The 36x24mm diagonal is 43.26mm. The square-sensor image circle could be no larger. With the closest square sensors:

30mm square, Diag= 42.43mm, Area= 900mm^2
36mmx24mm, Diag = 43.26mm, Area= 864mm^2
31mm square, Diag= 43.84mm, Area= 961mm^2

So a conservative square sensor would be 30mm per side, with area just slightly greater than 36x24mm FF. Thank you, Pythagoras!

But a 36mm square sensor would allow 36x24mm (either way, portrait or landscape) or 30x30mm or various other sizes at different aspects, all within a 43.26mm PK-mount image circle. Selecting the aspect in-camera is enticing. Professional? No. Fun? Yes.
