Saw the K-01 in a video today

Today I was browsing the blog of Garance Dore, one of my favorite street style fashion photographers, and noticed her playing around with the K-01 (she usually shoots with a Canon 60D) and shooting some video with it during a runway show at New York Fashion Week. The K-01 makes a cameo at 0:25 and 3:16 here .

Even knowing they were going to be there, it was still a pleasant surprise!

I think we finally found the intended market for the K-01

Sharp eyes to notice it at 3:16.

It hasn't been released yet, so this is product placement by Pentax' marketing. They're on the ball with Fashion Week. Who wants to lug a 60D around every day from 8:30am to 11:30pm for a week while drinking champagne cocktails with the glitterati.

And again, not a replacement for an entry-level DSLR like all the old salts keep insisting it's aimed at with no VF. The 60D is mid-level. And she actually earns her living from her photography using a DSLR with VF so again not just for those moving up from P&S who just take snapshots and have never used a VF.

PS. There's one thing she shows about composing using the screen which is oft overlooked those espousing the advantages of a VF, is she can smile and interact with the people she's photographing instead of having her face hidden behind the camera.

Good point, why I really like tilting LCDs
