Adam, I wrote this comment shortly before you posted your comment regarding RAW IQ:
I'm sure the K-01's dynamic range is already high on your list of features to investigate without anyone having to suggest it; however, aside from focus peaking and color depth, that is what interests me most with regard to the K-01 (I'm
almost willing to overlook the K-01's toy-like design and
relatively high price for the sake of having focus peaking).
I know the K-01 has the same sensor as the K-5, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will have precisely the same dynamic range. I say this (in part) because, as you know, the same sensor is also used in several cameras from competing manufacturers, yet none of them have the almost supernatural dynamic range of the K-5 (or so my research tells me; please correct me if I am wrong). Since the K-01 is supposedly a "budget" [sic] camera, its dynamic range may not fully match that of the K-5. If it is extremely close, that will be good enough for me, thanks to the added benefit of focus peaking.
P.S. Would it be realistic / sensible / practical / useful / educational for you to post some sample RAW files from your K-01 for PentaxForum members to download and manipulate to their hearts' content? I don't know if PentaxForums.com is capable of allowing such downloads, but I thought I would ask anyway.
Thank you.
