Just to clarify, were these photos made with this lens? SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 AL Limited Reviews - FA Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database
That bokeh is to die for. Just insane. I must have that lens. Somehow.
Frank is a cruel cruel man posting those photos, excellent photos but absolutely terrible for anyone trying to avoid FA31 LBA.

Charles.
Yes it does since it works on my K5.

Actually the lens works a lot better in better hands. I'm always just a quick and happy snapper

@frank, could u do a long exposure test of the k-01? Say a 15 second and 30 second one?

Also could u advise if the camera is able to track objects sufficiently well in aps-c mode?

Many thanks
I have an 8sec photo here:

Just keep it in mind that the long shutter noise reduction was enabled for these photos. I'll do a 30 second one tonight.

Hello, Frank. I was wondering if you could attach an external flash on the k-01 and at the same time pop up the internal flash and then fire them both?
Just now I tried it, yes, the pop up flash and external flash (mounted on the camera) can fire together. The external flash (mine is a Metz 58) recharges much faster, so I can keep shootin, the external flash always fires, but the internal ones only fires after recharged.

Don't know if this has any practical use though

Frank, thank you for all your effort.
Can you comment on the pictures using the flash compared to the K-5. Does it over-expose?

@frank, thanks for all your reviews. They have been most helpful.

Could u try to see if there is a way to trick the camera to do Tav mode? If u set to Manual mode, set the aperture and shutter speed, can u set ISO to auto? And if so, will the ISO change in response to the exposure?

Thanks

Re. the long shutter speed shots....could u (if u can) do an external night scene shot? Thanks again.

Frank, please can you confirm whether or not K-01 focus peaking is available using MF in movie recording?

I'm sure this has already been addressed somewhere on the forum, but I wasn't able to find it!

Many thanks for all your info and images regarding the K-01. I've found it very helpful.

TAv is short for Shutter and Aperture Priority mode (TAv). This is a mode pretty much unique to Pentax DSLRs (I think). Basically u set the desired aperture and shutter speed and the camera adjust the ISO as it sees fit to achieved the required metered exposure. Say u are doing birding shoots and u want a fast shutter speed (say 1/1500s) and u want a good depth of field (say F8), setting TAv mode allows the camera to adjust the ISO based on the exposure automatically.

TAv is an awesome feature! I love it for street shooting. Using plain old Av (Aperture value priority) the camera will usually auto select only 2 times the focal length for speed, so with a 21mm lens I'm getting 1/50th of a sec. If myself or the subjects are walking they will be blurry.
With TAv (Time value + Aperture value priority) I can set my preferred Aperture for good depth of field and also my shutter speed to stop the subject motion.
With our common sunny days here subjects are in and out of shadows - the ISO changes accordingly automagically and I don't have to worry about it.
If I went full manual then I'd have to be changing aperture or ISO for every shot.
Hope the K-01 has it.

Edit - Just looked in the manual. Yay it is there! (See note 2)

Sorry for my stupidity, but I didn't undestand what is the buffer size in DNG?:ugh:

I've downloaded MANUAL, but no any info there.
