The guys with Panasonic gh2 don't mind having crystal clear HD movie that beats any other DSLR including canons or nikon and even beats or equals the professional HD camcorders with the expense of less space on the sd card. Take a look on youtube for 1080p footage from hacked gh2, is mind blowing, very very sharp movie with extraordinary detail.
Can someone just provide a link to something mindblowing?

Well buying 64GB card and for at home another set of 2TB storage is possible.

Put 1080p in youtube. Look at the grass, branches, water movement - all very very sharp. This is way better than anyhing from canon , be it 5D2, 7D with L glass and so on. All other DSLR filming a landscape like that will transform the grass into a green smudge.

This is running now and that looks great.

The tip is postprocessing starting from indoor white balance. I guess that would also work with jpg stills.

But there is no hacking or am I wrong?

Edit: it is the second one with the hacking. At 149Mb/s we only get 3 1/2 minute of footage before it stops recording, or do files go bigger then 4GB? Looks amazing.

That is twice the filesize of K-5:

The GH2 has the best quality video of any camera currently available and I don't think even a hack by Vitaliy Kiselev on the K-01 will give it the quality of even a stock un-hacked GH2 IMHO.

AF Autozoom only works with auto focus lenses.

It does not work with Manual focus lenses. WHY?

I've tried cheating it by setting the auto focus switch on the body to auto with a manual lens attached but it doesn't work.

I don't understand what could possibly be the problem with enabelling this feature.

Very Much Needed!!!

Virtual micro4/3th and CX-sized sensor

I was thinking off the how to use the advatage of the K-01 and the system of using different filesizes because there is no OVF. On the backscreen you can display the pixels you want to use. So using the backscreen in total would make a 4:3 image the best to view. Combining this with the liking for some people (read me) to have some more reach directly out of the lens without buying a new and longer lens. And I know you can crop at home, but it is more convenient to just see at the backscreen te image (and controlling the focussing) as you take it. Next I was thinking of wich formats to use and micro4/3th and Nikon's 1 system came to my mind. Simply because when people are used to their system then this nice K-01 can just gimmick that and making the use more easy.

Again with the option to make jpg ( and hopefully also RAW) of a new sized image:
  • 3640x2730 pixel giving 9,9 megapixel micro4/3th-sized sensorimage and a crop of 2x (to FF).
  • 2778x1852 pixel giving 5,1 megapixel CX-sized sensorimage and a crop of 2,7x (to FF).

Having such an option would make the use of longer lenses more convenient due to the longer reach. Having a faster systemcamera because the images have less pixels and thus delivering smaller (RAW) jpg files. But offcourse with the image quality of the K-01 only less detail in certain aeria's due too the lower number of pixels.

I'd be so in to picking up a K-01 if firmware were modified to give clean HDMI out (no overlays) live from the sensor at minimum 720p. Could use all my Pentax glass to shoot video and capture to an external HDMI recorder at 3:1:1 for chroma key work. Alas, this is just a consumer camera: maybe somebody will hack firmware. Don't care about hacking to give 3:1:1 AVHCD files- get clean live HDMI output, external storage is fairly inexpensive compared to high capacity/fast SD cards!

I wish in new firmware: PEF format inclusion, more than 1 fps in raw shooting, longer battery life, better tracking AF.

I vote for high speed synch with the built-in flash. Really I want a "fill flash" option for bright lighting. Currently you can't get faster than 1/180s shutter speed if the flash is up. Makes it impossible to do fill flash outdoors.

ND filters?

But also earlier in the post you mentioned built in flash. I've found the two higher end Pentax flases work well especially when off camera. Metz also has an impressive line from start to finish; naturally the Metz 1k flash works perfectly - even in fill mode

Using TAv mode doesn't allow you to set +/- on EV changes. This is logic for the M-mode where TAv-mode is coming from (putting iso- to auto), but with TAv changing meteringsettings is a good way for creating the light you want.

For iso-settings in auto: We can only adjust the max iso, but it would be great to also set a minimum iso in this mode.

Yes, those solutions all work. I was looking for an "in-camera" solution, to stick with the P&S style.
