The K-01 is the only mirrorless on the planet that takes the full line of DSLR lenses , all 25 million of them.

Yes, the K-01 will take all K-mount lenses, those for the K-05 or indeed any previous Pentax camera. It will need an adapter for M42 lenses, but that is easy as well.

That is misleading. The K-01 will take only K-mount lenses, not all DSLR lenses.

It is other mirrorless camera formats, like the MFT and Sony NEX, that take all DSLR lenses, though you need to buy a (cheap) adapter for each different lens mount.

Really ? Does anyone here think when I said full line it was not just Pentax but for Canon, Nikon and Sony mounts also ? Show me a link to any other mirrorless that has 25 million lenses that will fit it. And yes I am talking 25 million Pentax K-mount. BTW I will try my Pentax 67 lenses with Pentax 1.7x AF adapter so it's even more than just K-mount.

NEX owners might differ with you on this.

I am wondering how you would react when a Canon user would try to attract you to their side by telling you that a Rebel can take the full line of DSLR lenses, all 60 million of them - and all AF too. How would you justify your allegiance to Pentax if this is all you can come up with to highlight the value of K-01?

It's partly funny, partly sad to see Pentax users using arguments like those I see from Canon users - we have more cameras, more lenses, more users, better resale value, easier to find for rental, easier to borrow from acquaintances!

Whatever works, I guess.

Bonjour,

I see your point, but Pentax has not (yet) orphaned the K-mount lens line ... like Canon did with the FD's, etc. ... Go to a camera swap meet and you'll see tons of FD's everywhere ... kind of sad. I have never liked Canon's digital AF stuff, and still cannot get over using Andre Agassi as the spokesperson for the "Rebel" ... à vomir.

Enough said ... Salut, J Frog

Only if you add a $400 adapter that doesn't work very well.

Oh paleeze, so humor me, how many of the 60 million lenses have IS with the Rebel ? Does the Rebel work as well as the K-01 with K-mount lenses using Canon FD mount lenses ? Wake up ! Just because you hate video doesn't mean the whole planet is living in the past. Go get a K-5 or whatever floats your boat.

Every Pentax Lens and Accessory I Own

All that matters to me is I can mount and use every single lens and accessory I own, natively, exactly the same way as I can with every other Pentax camera I own. No other mirrorless camera on earth can do that.

I read your message exactly as you wrote it and simply wanted to clarify for those reading the thread who are not making the same assumptions you are. But you have a problem with clarity, apparently, and have now retreated into fanboy territory.

FYI any MFT camera will mount all 25 million Pentax lenses and all the billions of Nikon, Canon, Leica M and M39, Sony NEX, Samsung NX, Pentax 110, M42, Konica Hexar, PEN F, Contax G, 645, 6x7, Konica AR, Olympus OM, Contax/Yashica, etc. etc. lenses as well. I am currently using lenses from four different mounts on my PEN with no problems at all.

There are very real advantages to the K-01 for Pentax users. But if you want lens compatibility across brands it is a poor choice. Exaggerating the importance of the camera should be left to the marketing department.

Robin: No MFT camera will mount them without an adapter. None of the MFT cameras is pocketable with one of those lenses mounted. I don't own any of those lenses and I have no need for lens compatibility across brands.

You correctly noted the real advantages for Pentax users. Understating the importance of the camera should be left to competitors' marketing departments.
