Gorgeous, just gorgeous. Is the light natural? Did you do much post on this? In any case, wow.

Thanks! Well I don't have any kind of lighting setup at all so most everything is utilizing available light. I almost always shoot raw so I use LR for most of my processing...in this case I didn't apply much PP but this is a fairly heavy crop since the flower was out in the middle of a small fountain pond and this is a 35mm lens though at sometime I would like to get the 100mm wr macro . Basically I increased the exposure a bit...I think it was about +30, bumped the contrast and clarity by +10 and sharpened the overall image just a little as well to compensate for cropping. Oh I also enabled the profile correction for this lens although it seems that for the 35mm ltd macro it doesn't need to do as much compared to some other lenses whose LR correction algorithms seem stronger. Cheers!

A few shots from today. A couple of abstracts thrown in for good measure. Always nice to think outside the box.

Nice colors on #s 2 and 4...especially that shade of green on 4.

Nice shot with your setup and what's your working distance with it? Just curious if you've ever tried reverse lens macros?

san diego trip with my 85mm

I went on a trip to visit my friend who is living in san diego. Took my k-01 and my 85mm 1.4 that I am totally new to. I haven't really gotten a chance to use this lens much and I am still learning how. Both my friend and his GF are familiar with dslr's but not manual focus lenses. This pictures were snapped by the 3 of us while I was in town for a few days. We had a ton of fun. The videos are the best part

Thank you! If I trust the markings on the lens, the minimal focus distance is 25cm with a 1:2.8 magnification (without the 2X TC) at 70mm. One nice thing with this is I don't need to get crazy close to the bug I'm shooting, but 1:1.4 (with the 2X TC) is a bit limiting. And focusing bellow about F/11 is, ah... tricky. But all in all I quite like it. Seems very sharp with a sweet spot around F/13. Macro sure needs a lot of light.

I've just acquired a nice Pentax-M 50mm F/4 Macro that does 1:2 and I have some tubes on the way, so I'll be trying a slightly-less-poor-but-still-pretty-broke man's macro soon. It should do 1:1. I also think that at 50mm, this lens ought to give me a bit more depth of field at a given F stop (right?)... I've not tried reversing lenses yet. Seems a bit esoteric, though I'm sure it gets less intimidating quickly once you get into it. I might need to start looking at lighting options too if I keep going down this macro road...
