Mostly going for mood and atmosphere in this shot. Even added some grain for effect. FA31

Nice one and the color version definitely meets your objectives...but where's the matcha? Even though its intense color might be hard to manage in such a subtlety lit image, somehow I think you could pull it off.

You've captured some really nice colors there.

Something a bit different. Here are a few shots from a cemetery just outside the very rural and small village where my grandmother-in law was born, in fact I seemed to be the only foreigner most of them had ever seen in person. Its about an hours drive from Hue where she worked and lived until she passed a couple of years ago. I was very fortunate to have met her on my first trip to Vietnam 5 years ago and the first thing I noticed when she greeted me with her smile and laughter was the traditionally black stained teeth. Aside from being a mark of beauty back in the day it also seemed to have a functional purpose as I was informed that it kept the teeth from getting cavities and indeed the old women that I saw with black teeth had all of them from what I could tell. So anyways we went to the cemetery the day we arrived in Hue to pay our respects to my grandparent-in laws.

Need I say these were taken with the da 35mm ltd

The village gate in the background and yes those are old burial mounds.

Similar to the Gargoyle's role, many family "tombs" have dragons and other images to ward off bad spirits. The rural folk are very superstitious and strictly adhere to various ceremonial rituals, especially those associated with death.

My grandparent-in laws tomb site. Grandfather-in law is in the foreground with incense and a stone family plaque with genealogy is in the background.

Maybe not the best (DOF is too thin, the eyes are not really sharp), but at least it is recent

I don't know how much of post processing you have done - if any, or if you had a polariser on the lens but the final photo is beautiful and has some nicely rendered tones... Good job, very nice!

Thank you.

No polarizer. The big thing was that I applied a pretty heavy vignette to the photo to make my son stand out.

I appreciate that! I thought about adding the matcha but decided not to at the last minute. As you say I might have been able to make it work but the candles were going fast so I had to make a quick decision.

Psychedelic mushroom - Amanitus muscaria

A crazy mushroom in the backyard - I understand it can give you a trip - however not for me, much prettier through a camera lens.

Taken with a Sigma 70mm f2.8 macro - I'm quite pleased with this 3rd party lens.

Very good almost painterly-like photo ! These beautiful mushrooms are so adorable subjects aren't they ?

And the bokeh form your lens reminds me so much of my Helios - I should use it more often...

Agreed - especially your comment regarding the Helios. I'm pulling that one out of the bag next time I'm out and about.
