The thumb is an interesting twist. I use the SLR grip such as you but the more traditional right index finger. I'll try the thuimb thing!! Thanks for the post.

It is a Pear tree. Maybe wild, it doesn't ever fruit.

Looks like a Bartlett Pear, wich are fast-growing, compartively short-lived ornamentals.

In St. Louis they are ubiquitous plantings in urban tree line along sidewalks (throughout the area our sidewalks are set back eight feet from the curb and grass and trees are planted in the "tree-line"). At Thanksgiving they are covered with strings of clear lights. In spring they are covered with those blooms. They enver bear fruit here, either, that I ahve seen. I wonder how they reproduce?

I like the out of focus background, not too blurred to be able to relate it to the scene

Day One with my K-01

Picked up the black body only kit on Monday and married it with the Tamron 18~250 from my K20D.
Yesterday did some quick test shots. All on tripod. Any direct bright sun definitely presents issues on the LCD.
Love the K5 IQ over the still great K20D though.
