Thought I'd try my hand at some food shots. It's definitely not as easy as it looks. This one took a lot of willpower to do as cheesecake is my favorite guilty pleasure. FA 43.

Excellent set. A killer camera / lens combo for sharpness. The eyes of the leopard are absolutely captivating.

Bird Shot

I posted this on my family's web site and every one liked it so I'll post it here. It's from my backyard but it still is hard to get a good shot because of the speed of the birds and getting focus. It's the K-01 and 55-300mm.

Decided to whip out the old 100mm Macro for this shot.

If the pool there is a place where the birds congregate, set-up a tripod, lock the camera/lens on it and prefocus on that point shift it to manual focus and leave it alone. Then when bird jumps into focus you can start shooting. Close down the aperture as much as possible for maximum depth of field while still allowing for fast shutter speeds. Then you can move on to another area and get a different background or bird that likes a different area. Just my $0.02

Lovely bokeh and shallow depth of field on that first shot! Need to get my hands on some vintage lenses myself.

Elliot, my son (with DA * 200).

I should mention that I hadn't really shot with the DA *200 on my K-01 before and I was surprised at how fast it locked focus and was able to track my son on his tricycle. Pretty surprising, considering that I have not had very good success with the DA *50-135 and the K-01.

Heavily processed abstracts and a still life.

Some puppies! Just curious, which of the three shots do you like the most?

LeRolls, I like photo #2 best.

Rondec, those two photos of your son are very nice, especially the first one.

I love the bokeh to sharpness ratio. That 200mm is some lens.

I like the liveview on the K-01 for composing with the 10-20mm I know most other bodies have a live view option but this is one of the things I like about this body.

Thanks. Yes, the 200mm is a great lens. A little long for portraits and pretty prone to purple fringing, but I love shooting with it.

A couple with the DA 40.
