I agree the F35-70 is a nice lens to go with the K-01.

Getting shots of those bees in the roses is very hard because the bees are almost in a frenzy in there, just spinning and spinning inside the flowers. However, the roses seem a little more advanced over here - most have wilted by now, and yesterday some odd bugs were eating the old petals off the flowers and, well, ahem... So, anyway, two shots:

Found this guy in some stagnant water. The set up is as follows: K-01, lens removed; screw-mount adapter; Asahi Optical Microscope converter; trinocular microscope with dedicated camera port and adapter. This is at 100X, live mount

That is pretty cool and something I've been wanting to set up here at home, several years ago when I was working as a microbiologist at a university lab I used to use our $6000 Olympus scope to photograph all kinds of stuff, bummer that the camera mount was specially made for a not so great nikon P&S though...btw what scope are you using? Hopefully it wouldn't cost me anywhere near $6000

Hi Richard. For all my macros posted so far in this thread I've used what I call my Poor-Man's-Macro: a Tamron Adaptall 35-70mm F/3.5 (17A) + 2X TC (01F) with P/KA adapter for a 140mm, 1:1.4 macro. I've just acquired a k-mount 2X TC and some tubes, as well as a Pentax-M 50mm F/4 macro, and I've started experimenting with those, so maybe I'll post some shots with that soon. I'm thinking that 1:1.4 is about, for me, the limit of being able to shoot handheld and so I'll soon need a tripod, because at 1:1 depth of field becomes so narrow that my own movement makes it very difficult to get what I want in focus. I also believe there's a "real" 1:1 macro lens in my future, because I'm really enjoying shooting macros.

For now, here's a "non-macro" Beetle spotted in my neighborhood (FA 28-105mm F/3.2-4.5):

Hi Pascal. I don't know but that poor man's macro is pretty darn good. I have the FA 100mm 2.8 macro with 1:1 and believe me it's hard to stand still enough with such a small depth of field to work with. Sometimes, I think it's just easier to work from a farther distance and depending on the lense, use cropping. The 50 1.7 is a good one for cropping and I have found that a Helios 44 58mm f2.0 crops well too.

Lovely shots LeRolls, and an interesting contrast between the Helios and FA43.

For sheer clarity and SMC colors, below is a photo I could never get with the Helios: taken with a SMC Takumar 55mm 1.8. Having used a K20D for years, its great to see the venerable Takumar is up to my new K-01's sensor. And probably a lot more.....

I love the mirrorless pentax for their digital filters...
no photoshop no funny stuff, ooc is the way to go.....
