From "Yellow Spring Lake", still in the central highlands but higher yet in elevation...as you can see there are Temperate Coniferous forests in Vietnam. This is a beautiful region and the weather is actually quite cool here which entices many of the southerners to visit for a holiday getaway.

DA 35ltd...for me its the versatility of this lens that gives it an essential place in my kit.

A couple with the DA 15 limited (cross posted).

I was surprised at the dynamic range in the second photo considering it was fairly dark and shot at iso 800.

The sensor in the k01 doesn't much surprise me anymore. As your second image demonstrates, its amazing how capable this cam is considering its over 2 years old. I like the clouds in that pic btw...reminds me of a water color painting.

That it is Chris, and I greatly enjoyed spending the afternoon there wandering about. I have some other shots to share from another place...a zen monastery situated atop a mountain forest in an area of even higher elevation in this region. I should be getting to those soon, after a few more sets

The legendary Helios swirly bokeh. Makes absolutely no sense, but it is lovely when it works. What you got there is still more interesting than precise circles or hexagons, so I'd score it as a success.

I think you need the 44-2 or 44-3 for the super swirly bokeh. They have 8 aperture blades which apparently contribute to the effect.
The 44K-4, which is the same as the 44M-4 aside from the mount, has 6 blades, and, along with the later 44M's, is known to be less conducive to the swirly stuff - although as you suggested, it's part way there.

Thanks! I do really like the shot, BTW.

I just think the swirl requires a slightly more uniform background, and perhaps just a tad more separation.

You're correct that the 44K-4 has 6 (curved) blades, but the bokeh when shooting wide-open (as in this shot) has absolutely nothing to do with the blades since they do not close at all. AFAICT, all of the 44s have the same optical formula, so all are capable of The Swirl. Indeed, you can see the shadow of its presence in my shot (and others, unpublished), but I think to really bring it out, there needs to be a kind of uniformity to the background - the more the shapes of the background highlights are diverse, the less the effect is apparent.

Well, nice regardless. I guess its peculiarities have a bit of a different type of learning curve. I still would like to add one of these Helios lenses to my kit but there are just too many variants for me to research right now so I have yet to do so.
