Took out the old K-01 to save some weight for a bicycle ride to a local nature park. Didn't have that much time to shoot while there, but I still managed to get the following shot.
That's great, yes the old gal can still impress!

4 1/2 years since I bought my Bumblebee, and it is still my camera for short focal length lenses.

Today I had some quality time with a beautiful gray hairstreak butterfly. K-01 + F 35-70 + Asahi Pentax Close-Up Lens No. 1, providing a max magnification of 1:2.7.

Thank you. It's a wonderfully nimble and inexpensive combination, a real blast.

Not trying to keep sharing my cat, LOL, but its a great example of how sharp the FA43 is. Makes me want the other FA limiteds. And this is at a relatively high ISO, At ISO 100, it would have been sharper I believe.

Each of the last two years I've had a small (~20 sq ft) patch of wild daisies grow in the middle of the back yard. It might look out of place considering the rest of the yard is mowed on a regular basis, but I think it's cute and it's neat to have a little semi-contained world to watch and photograph.

A quartet of snaps taken this week, again the K-01 + F 35-70 + Asahi Pentax Close-Up Lens No. 1.

I acquired a yellow brick and I also have a red 18-55 lens. I decided to have the yellow brick converted to 720nm infra-red.
I'm beginning to get the hang of it, colour I'm still not sure about but black and white I'm almost there...
These are a few from my recent stay in Brixham

and converted to mono

Had a chance today to meet Lucy, my brother's five week old kitten. She's a little perpetual motion machine (well, almost) and that, combined with generally poor lighting, makes things less than great for the poor K-01. Horses for courses, and the K-01 is not the best horse for this course. First time I've ever photographed a kitten this young.

I just received my new to me Helios 44-2 58mm 2.0, and paired it naturally to my K-01. Just tried a few situations today around the raindrops. Excited about the swirly bokeh, and knowing it takes a little effort to get into the ideal swirly situations!

I recently had my K-01 converted to a full spectrum camera by Isaac Szabo. I wanted to test it so I took it along on a trip to the mountains where I came across this old cabin. Having recently been won over by HDR, I decided to shoot an HDR sequence in infrared using a Hoya RM90 filter and three 1-stop bracketed shots around 1/60 sec @ f5.6 using a Pentax 18-55mm AL lens and an ISO of 400.

I converted the 3 resulting DNG files to B&W TIF using RAWTherapee and then merged them in Photomatix. That result was converted to a tri-tone in Photoshop (a few adjustments to exposure and sharpness along the way).

This was more of a test shot than anything else, but it came out pretty good though I would revisit the composition if I had the chance. I would also shot this with an f8 aperture but didn't see any improvement in sharpness so I went with the wider aperture.

The K-01 works great as an IR camera since the IR image can be previewed on the LCD screen. A viewfinder would be worthless in this case since the RM90 is virtually opaque to visible light. I'm also pleased with how well HDR works with infrared. IR shots have a wide range of tones to begin with due to the sky being rendered near black and green foliage, beyond white (which can actually be brighter than reflected whites since it's produced by chlorophyll fluorescence in the infrared).

I think the K-01 FS and myself have a lasting relationship in the works
