Non-traditional K01 shot...got "trapped" by a covey of Mountain Quail in Western Washington and couldn't get to my K5 without spooking them...so shot with K01 through a big supertelephoto...While crouched behind my tripod shooting the quail, this lovely 16" tall Pileated Woodpecker dropped in right next to me to prove the K01 perfectly capable!

Yes, flighty for sure! Had maybe 5 seconds max to respond and was shooting manual focus with focus peaking while working the quail. Used K01's focus peaking and grabbed a couple quick frames...

Just checked the EXIF and found that shot was made at ISO 1600. I don't find the noise intolerable at all! Nice work K01.

There's a number of cool things going on with your photo. I agree that ISO 1600 is handled well - that 16MP sensor has really stood the test of time. But also the fact that Woody slowed down enough for a 1/250s shutter to be sufficient is pretty cool... as is the fact that you were able to focus a 600mm lens in just a few of seconds with focus peaking! I've done a lot of 200mm and 300mm shots with my own K-01 + Hoodman Loupe knock-off, but 600mm is insane!

Here's my own ISO 1600 wildlife shot, an adorable deer family who wandered into the field next to my home one evening. K-01 + Tak 200/4...

Nice deer pic! K01 clearly handles 1600 better than most...and as for catching the focus peak just right...well, that's the one frame I got it right! Shutter speed was set slow enough to show blurred leg when quail scratched for forage, yet not blur the body or head...pure luck getting the woodpecker to sit still for a millisecond!

I have not had the K-1 out in a very long time. I probably should use it more often than once a year or so.
