Sun on the Road.

(broke out the K-01 for this one. It has started taking black photos so I am afraid after many years of service it is looking at the end of its usefulness).

I haven't heard of the aperture block failure in K-01. I know it is very similar to the K-30, though.

Guess I need to check my shutter count. So far, the worst problem I have had was the ePROM battery or capacitor losing its charge over periods of inactivity (weeks, not days)

I have a lot of photos taken on January 1 2012!

I don't think it is aperture block failure -- at least it doesn't act the way it did when my daughter's K-S1 stopped working. In this case, I turn on the camera and get a black screen on the back. I turn it off and wait a bit and turn it back on and then the screen is normal. Stopping down the aperture doesn't affect it in the least.

My guess is some electronic component is starting to go gradually, but clearly it isn't worth fixing it. I still love the output from it and it is a tiny combo with either the DA 40 or DA 15.

This just happened to me on the last trip when I left the battery out for an extended period (for recharging). It seems fine if I leave a battery in it (I hope).
