K-01 Just spotted on Japanese TV

There were 4 K-01's and one 645D. A segment on a popular TV show Guru-Nai http://www.ntv.co.jp/gurunai/

A TV show or segment about taking photos of kitties? And one of the photographers was using a 645D?

A while back, I was poking around on Pentax's Japanese home page, and they have a scrolling menu which contains items about how best to use your Pentax camera in different situations. One of these was ... taking good photos of cats! Apparently this is something quite important in Japan? At least luftluss and I are using our cameras as the Pentax gods intended!

What's important in Japan is cuteness. Now, they consider cats cute, so they become important. Especially with woman.
Now, advertising to women works, since they are out shopping, while man are out working from morning till night. So it seems that pentax knows exactly what it's doing, it's out to sell cameras.
And you sell cameras to the people who actually have the money and have time to do the shopping. In case of Japan that's women. You just have to go shopping in Japan to understand this
concept.

By the way, the location looks like a cat cafe that I've been taken to before. As expected, it's full of women too.

Well, my wife won't pose for me, so maybe I do need to get a cat!

I love how the 2nd cat in that last images looks like he/she is freaking out a bit that they are next up.

I'll jump in here and mention that perhaps there should be a new club around here, "Photos of Cats".

I can contribute quite a few Pentax photos of cats.

So will I, actually. I take so many photos of that Tonkinese, it's crazy. He's photogenic, and he often sits still enough, looking like a statue.

My other cat thinks that when I point a camera at him, it means "OMG LOEV TIEMZ!" so he comes running and purring and rubbing all over me, making it impossible to get a decent shot, so there are far fewer photos of him.

I have a photo that my Dad took of a cat we used to have who did the same as yours, the headshot of the cat basically shows part of Dad's hand pinning the cat to the ground gently around the neck to get the photo, the cat has his eyes half closed and is obviously loving the attention. After all, to that cat, there were no bad humans, just friendly hands and little boxes that went 'click'.

They are funny creatures.

This is a very silly photo - not a Pentax photo, sorry - when I had just received my medium-format Carl Zeiss Jena 2.8/180 Sonnar short telephoto/portrait lens and I just wanted a quick iPhone snap to send to someone. Well the cat I described sensed that camera action was taking place and immediately jumped up. I had to hurry to get the shot of the lens and get it off that table before the cat started in on his love moves.

Goofball.

My son and his fiance have two cats. One is aloof and will barely tolerate humans. Except me. As soon as I sit down anywhere in their home, wherever she is in the home, she walks briskly to me, tail erect, jumps into my lap and curls up for a nap.

Inexplicable.

The K-01 will make its public debut at their house next week (with K105/2.8) <g>
