GPS for K-01

My German dealer shiped my new K-01 yesterday...
I am going on a camera club film user photo trip (Old Men Using Film) next weekend - to Germany and the south of Jutland (Tonder, Logumkloster).

I was thinking of bringing my K-5 too, because of the GPS possibility. It's nice to have a GPS on trips!

But after downloading the User Manual for K-01 I was surpirised an very pleased to find out, that the K-01 does support the O-GPS1 :-)

So, no problem - the only digital camera I have to bring with me is the "K ZERO ONE"
I plan to bring my 67II and perhaps a LX or MZ-S as well :-)

So, ther's at least three cameras for this GPS unit today: K-5, K-01 and the 645D.

Thanks for the info ... it's good to know that the GPS is supported by the K-01. I do not have the GPS, but have not ruled it out either for a possible future acquisition.

It's important to note that the star-tracking is not yet supported with the K-01 and O-GPS1 but Pentax have said in an interview that it will be enabled with a future update.

Has anyone tried out the compass feature on the K-01 yet? I'd really like to see a screenshot of that! If you press the info button twice in live view, you will see a grayed-out compass option unless the GPS is attached. I'm guessing that it will look more or less like the K-5's electronic level interface.

Well - it's works great. When replaying the images, (info button) - the compass is visable imedialtely, so I can se which way I pointed the camera. This is very usefull to me, because I sometimes photograph new housing development sites for urnban planning reports (I work as an urban planner (architect) and I do freelance photography).

Best regards

I'm still debating on adding the gps unit onto the hotshoe. I've used a borrowed one briefly, but...

-And as stated in the specs for the unit... It has incredibly limited battery life. Plus it takes up the valued hotshoe attachment point; something I use extensively.
