More Video with K-01

Took out the K-01 to get some B-roll. I am still getting used to the camera and most of the mistakes I made were my own fault. The camera has performed great so far. I really am digging what Pentax did.

Shot 720p 60fps and conformed to 24fps

This has a very nice look to it. Well done, and far better than any video I expect to make. And yes, that includes anything I do with dedicated video cams!

Really nice work there. What lens did you use and did you attempt to change focus on it during the filming?

Great video! Did you set your video settings to 60fps or 30fps? =)

Jimr> Thanks!

Philbaum> I used the Pentax 16-45mm. I did change focus but since it was so bright outside I really had to stop down, so the change in focus was not as dramatic as I would have liked. I could have used a 1.4 lens with an ND filter and change focus but I was really pressed for time and everyone was really moving fast. I needed some quick footage so I stopped the lens down to try and keep things in focus.

Richard> I shot in 720p 60fps and then conformed to 24fps.

Sledger> I had to export the compressed H.264 using a freeware called Mpeg Streamclip to Apple Quicktime and then I used Red Giant software Grinder to conform it to 24p. I know the Grinder program is $49 bucks but dealing with different video formats is a pain and it saves you time with Grinder. And it also comes with the Pro Res codecs which is a great plus.

SweetPixels- Looks like you know your stuff, I'm getting more into videography. Was praying the K-01 would have live hdmi out clean at 720p minimum (for external recorder capture) but that looks like a no-go. I know this is a stupid question, but for chroma-key do you think that format conversion from the H.264 to ProRes (say 4:2:2) would be a viable solution? I sincerely doubt it since the H.264 footage will be what, 3:1:0 ( I think), and color noise will be a real b*stard but wondering if you had any experience in this regard? Great sequence, btw, love the slow-mo!
