Any 40mm lens remains a 40mm lens no matter where it is. A lens does not stretch nor shrink because it has been moved. Different-size frames (film or digital) see different amounts of the image the lens projects, is all.

Talking about 'equivalence' makes sense when comparing different photo formats, to previsualize the performance of a given focal length on various systems. So a 40/2.8 lens on 135/FF has AOV and DOF roughly equivalent to 60/4 on APS-C, or 80/5.6 on m4/3, or 32/2.2 on a 645D, or 24/1.7 on a 645 film cam, etc. But merely saying that a 40mm lens is, or is like, 60mm on an APS-C camera, only leads to infinite n00b confusion. Ay yi yi.
OMG, are you people for real ? Do you not understand that when someone says a 40mm lens on a Pentax DSLR is 60mm eqiv it mean it gives the FOV of a 60mm lens on a FF/35mm DSLR/SLR. I have more optics than anyone on this forum so don't BS me.

My Origin was made to spec; with a motherboard made in "combination" (if that makes sense) between both Japan and here in the usa. It also has a modified screen made in Japan,b ut besides that... Most of the parts outside of those are in fact made in the united states. They are incredibly difficult to find and rather expensive, but it can be done.

I'll post the internal pics of the Origin as soon as I obtain some more macro equipment for the K-01
Give me the US address of the factory that built the motherboard, video card, HDD, case, PSU , CPU fan etc.

Hi, jogiba
I have lots of nails in my workshop but i'm no carpenter.
I'm no photographer either but what Rio said lines up with my understanding, and I just referred to my favorite reference, Herbert Keppler 9th page 243 "How lenses behave"
And the first pragraph is germane.

I have a lot of respect for your posts and Rio's too..
If what you said on your post at 8:32 am was correct, simple geometric optics would be wrong.
I would say a 40 mm lens on a k-01 just gives the same image as on a 35 mm FF, but pre-cropped, as explained by diagrams on 245 of Keppler. It is not like a "60mm equiv"

Where is the K-01 made? I try to avoid Chinese products. I do not wish to debate the matter of Chinese production. My reasons extend beyond the matter of quality. Thanks.
Like some have already mentioned I also believe not all components are made in my little country.

This is the Prime M, the K-01's processor. (source: http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/img/dcw/docs/519/765/html/043.jpg.html )

Please correct me as I might be wrong but are those chips labeled with some sort of Cyrillic?

Anyway the K-01 is produced at Mactan Export Zone, Cebu, Philippines. For a photo.. here:
Too bad, the batteries are all made in China, it seems... good luck on finding one made elsewhere.

Nope, though I see what you're seeing. It's a Korean company, just a stylized font used for their brand name. Now, whether those chips are actually made in Korea, I'm not sure...

Ah, so that probably explains the "KOR" in one of the chips. Thanks for the clarification.

So a 28-300mm on a K-01 still has a wide angle FOV at the short 28mm FL end ? Anyone with half a brain knows the FL is the FL but the FOV changes depending on the film/sensor size. A 210mm is a wide angle on an 8x10 view camera but on the Pentax Q it is a super telephoto lens.

I am off to Cebu in less than 12 hours... woohoo. Then on a boat, and then 90 minutes around Bohol to a private beach. And I'll be taking my trusty K-x (Sig 8-16, Tam 17-50, FA50/1.4, Lensbaby 35 and 50, and DA55-300) in addition to my family Also have my Fenix TK21 and my son's waterproof Sony for messing about.

It'd be nice to arrange a factory visit on my way back out, but it's a Sunday.

Sorry not posting any pics just yet, but here's a very brief listing in words for now - pics will come sometime relatively soon...

Starting off with two lens' in the following camera mounts...

(Actually just one for Meade) 4064mm f8.0 (This one permenantly mounted); a friend of mine has an actual portable one which barely fits into a pick-up truck bed. My friend also has a (literal) professional <Brashaer> telescope which I use frequently.

For the Hasselblad H... 28mm f4.0 & 120mm f4.0

Mayima... 75mm f4.5 & 110mm f2.8

Leica... 50mm f0.95 & (Voigtlanger) 35mm f1.2

Sony... (Schneider) 50mm f2.8 & 24-70 f2.8 cz

Yes I'm unfortunately insured for just short of 100 dedicated lens

By George, he's got it!!!

But can I give my frame-size rant anyway? OK, here goes:

Cut out a picture from a magazine. This is like the image projected by a lens. On that picture, draw a rectangle 60x45mm. Inside that, draw a 36x24 rectangle. Inside that, draw a 24x18mm rectangle. These are the sizes of 645, 135/FF, and APS-C frames. The source picture remains the same, but each format sees their own chunk of it. This is exactly what happens if you move a lens from a 645 to a 135/FF to an APS-C camera.

Enough already. Have fun!
I swear Rico you must have several of these preset rants on your desktop and just copy past

As far as i know Fujitsu make the processor, it's the big black one on the left.
That's a Japanese company but they are all over Asia including China so where the actually chips are made???

At least they do quite well in the greenpeace list if that's any reassurance

I could be very, very wrong on this, but isn't the processor the unlabeled, square chip in the lower left? It wouldn't surprise me if the two Hynix chips are ram, or something along those lines.

I'm guessing. I may be totally off base on this.
