It is generating a lot of interest isn't it? Back in the old days marketers said that getting people to talk about your product was the first goal, what they said was immaterial.

Doesn't alter the fact. And yes, I enjoy that show. Ah, good times.

It's obviously better than the D800.

Well it does speak to the fact that perhaps the naysayers here might possibly have been wrong (and I'm still pretty much in the any press is good press for a company like Pentax which has almost zero recognition in the marketplace, if all the bad press gets people to look and they see good performance reviews maybe they will buy it

Or be led to look at the other Pentax offerings which are not too shabby either.

Had to look for like 5 minutes to realize you were actually showing the right side of the picture, silly me...

Well, looking like something designed by a certain fruit company DOES have its uses.

7.9% vs. 7.3% ... who's really going to buy the "D800"

Bonjour Ron,

Thanks ... I would say that the 7.9% looking at the K-01 are more likely to purchase than the 7.3% looking at an ultra expensive Nikon.

Real interest and curiousity on the Pentax side versus staring into a Ferrari dealership window knowing that you could never justify one ... and maybe even if one had the necessary funds.

Salut, J Frog

That is interesting! Well, I guess it could be just because K-01 and the D800 were their two latest updates (most recent news on their blog). I hate to say it, but those preview hits also may represent some non-Pentax naysayers hoping to see a train wreck review.

I bought the K-01 and I love the camera, but I am pretty confident (sorry!) that it is nowhere near the popularity (if "popularity" is based on serious interest / pre-purchase research) of either the X-Pro 1 or the E-M5. Not even close.

Of course, my opinion is really just based on anecdotal evidence. =D. There was a poll on either 1001noisycompacts or another mirrorless type blog that asked what camera people were looking to preorder. There were a good deal of votes and the E-M5 led with the X-Pro-1 maybe with 25% fewer votes. The K-01 maybe had 10% of the votes of the X-Pro1... it was a small bar on the chart. Also, I did go over to our big camera store when the Oly rep was in recently with the E-M5 demo. When I took the K-01 out of my bag, the camera store rep said something like "oh, you actually bought one of those?!" And this is a Pentax dealer that stocked the Q.

I know, overhere there is like no pre-ordering for K-01. The Oly will winn offcourse in salesnumbers. I also do believe that X-Pro 1 will win in pre-orders, but who is going to buy that camera after the first wave? I think that gearheads and people looking for exclusivety purchase it fast and then the sales dry out.

Still pretty amazing figures no matter who is doing the clicking .. and no doubt encouraging for Pentax that their strategy is the right one.

It's my perspective that Olympus is going downhill fast; and may very well not survive (for consumer photography) the next two years. Their slr cameras are above average; except for the prices versus the capability, but... Both the lens availability and cost of the lens' simply make any of the Olympus slr systems not an option for most.
