K-01 and Sigma 10-20 in Old San Juan

Spent the day in Old San Juan on Sunday and it was my first serious outing with the K-01. I decided to go with the Sigma 10-20 3.5 on the K-01 and my Sigma 70-200 2.8 on my K-5. Yes I did feel the gap in the lenses but decided to "walk-off" the gap rather than change to my Sigma 17-50 2.8 during the day.

The combo of the K-01 with the Sigma 10-20 was fantastic. Since the lens is so wide and dof so deep you have no need for a optical viewfinder whatsoever. The view screen on the K-01 was perfect (even in bright light) for framing the wide shots. I can't say how fast the focus was but I can say I never noticed the focus time even once during the day.

I have been mostly using the K-01 with my primes but I have to say the Sigma 10-20 will be welded to the camera whenever I go outside shooting with two bodies.

Here are a few of the shots from the day, all run through LightRoom.

be well,
joe

Nice shots!
My only complaint is that Old San Juan is about 10 minutes from my office. I could have been your tour guide

Nice shots, love that first one! .....and it reminds me that I need to sell my Sigma 10-20 HSM 3.5, since I have never been able to use it effectively on my K5....I think I am just not a wide shooter, and lack creativity that is called for with a wide lens. It is a fast focusing lens, and very excellent......in the right hands, just not in mine!

Regards

BTW- Would love to see more shots of old San Juan......been there once, loved it!

Impressive! Much better colour, clarity and dimensionality than I've been able to coax out of my sigma 10-20 (the older f4-5.6 one) on my K20D.

I just acquired a Sigma 10 - 20 and hope to go back to use it sometime.
Great shots!

Great pics.

Wondering if it would be worth the time to edit out the wires and utility poles from the first one though. That's one reason I hate exposed above ground utility lines, and how many good pic they ruin.

Sometimes you can get creative with 'em, though; pic from my pre-Pentax days, but I kinda like it.
