Should I get a K-01 or wait for the K-30?

I have a K-r...and love it. When it works...

I'm seeing the major differences being mirror-less with no viewfinder. What's the benefits / cons with that? Shorter battery life? Thanks in advance.

The K-30 has 2 e-dials and a true TAv mode. That is a major advantage over the K-01. Another major advantage is the weather sealing. The K-30 has much faster AF than the K-01. The K-01 can focus peak during video recording, the K-30 can't. The K-01 has HDMI output and a microphone jack, the K-30 doesn't. The K-01 uses the same battery as the K-5, the K-30 can use AAs. The K-30 will have a much shorter battery life than the K-01.

The K-01 is a video camera that can take good stills. The K-30 is a still camera that can take video.

I think the the K-30 might have a much better battery life if you use the OVF and turn off the display.

Tough question: K-30 or K-01?

If you like a dSLR like camera, wait for the K-30. If you want a smaller body, almost a P&S, go for the K-01.

I have both K-7 and K-01, and the K-01 is a great secondary camera with excellent video capability. Would I use the K-01 as my primary camera? No. I like the functionality of the K-7 and I would replace it by a K-5 or its successor in due time.

Battery wise: the K-30 does not have a battery grip. If you want extended battery capabiity, go for the K-5 with battery grip.

Hope that the comment may help.

The K-01 also have a TAv like mode so won't call that something negative over the k-01 for not having a dictated mode for that.

It really comes down if you want to shoot in RAW and if you want a viewfinder.
If it's yes to one of them get the K30 instead.

cons of no viewfinder... well try to look at the screen in full sunlight, it doesnt work also longer lenses are harder to controll on the K-01 and shoter battery life

If you shoot video go for the K-01- otherwise go with the K30 - simple

However if you see yourself getting more into Photography get the K30 - I got the K7 when I started out over the Kx and the feel/controls make the camera.

The K-01 does have its plus points. It makes a fantastic compactER camera if you have a fullsized DSLR camera already, or a high quality prime machine, for people with an extensive P&S background.

Different cameras, the best depends on your needs. I have a K-r and a K-01. Battery wise they are both great, and the K-30 should be the same as the K-r on this matter as the battery is the same. IQ wise it should be equal to the K-01 ( they have the same sensor), which is better than the K-r. Now what do you want? Size? OVF? WR? Do you use many teles? What about video? Do you shoot manual? With this info I can give you a proper recommendation.

One thing about the K-01: it takes great pictures, not just great video. Also it's very usable under full sunlight. Together with a small prime it's a great package to always cary around. Oh yeah it also shoots RAW.

But there is a limitation that nearly cripples it, you can only take 1 photo every second.
For still life photography no problem but for the rest... nah.

If you need to shoot more the 1fps in RAW, go head and get the K30. If you don't the choice isn't so clear.

I'd wait until July 9th to make a final decision - see what the actual capabilities are (then again, I pre-ordered the K-01 and received it day three of issue).
