Back to the Dark Side

We were early-adopters of the K-01 when it first came out and were mostly thrilled with the cam. Our enthusiasm went south once we discovered how fussy the AF was with a few of our lenses. Notably the 17-70 and 35 macro. We ended up returning it thinking it wasn't for us.

Having evaluated our camera needs, we think the K-01 will work nicely with most of the DA Limiteds and compliment our K5 for less-serious photography. We think its smaller form factor and ease-of-use will result in having it with us more often to capture some of life's moments.

We're back to the dark side! If you have experience using the K-01 with the 21 and 70 Limiteds please chime in.

I forgot to mention that we took advantage of Adorama's special on K-01s. We expect to have the cam this week.

I use mine with the 40 XS most of the time, almost just a P&S with grunt. It works fine with the 16-50 and the Sigma 105 (which is broken again aperture stuck after repair), but we have a 70-200 Sigma f2.8 and it just focus hunts but then locks out of focus. Haven't fully test yet on the 70-200. Otherwise very happy with the K-01 as a compliment to the K5 and the soon to arrive K30.

Agreed. As I have stated on another thread, I think the K-01 is at it's particular best when mated to the DA limiteds. I use it with all of the 15, 21, 40, 70, and 35 macro and have found it produces outstanding images. I also have found framing with the LCD to be somewhat liberating. For landscape, vacation, family outing type shooting it is a joy to use. I do not consider it a replacement for my K5 by any means, but it definitely has it's place with the limiteds and for the type of shooting I have mentioned.

How is it with the 21 and 70? We don't have the 70 yet but ordered the 21 with the cam. We already have a 40.

This trio of "little jewels" makes for a very portable system with the K-01, one on the body and one in each pocket if you wish. Very easy to use and carry by comparison to my K5 with the same lenses.
