K-01 - MUCH better than expected

I actually own a Sony A57 as my main DSLR but could not resist trying the K-01 when buydig had the dual lens kit (18-55, 50-200) for 391 shipped. I know most want the 40mm lens and I do too but having both lens was too good to pass up. I am not concerned about the size.

The first thing I did was update the firmware. The AF is solid but definitely not up to the speed of a camera like Panasonic GX1. However, the image quality is totally superior. High ISO is great. WB is great. The image quality is great out of the box even in auto modes. Honestly, my favorite part about the camera is the fact that it uses the same lens as a Pentax DSLR. I never have liked the idea of carrying multiple lens for multiple systems (e.g. Sony Alpha and Sony Nex).

I am honestly thinking about selling my A57 and lens and going back to a Pentax DSLR now. I sold my K5 a few months back.

Welcome back ot the club. The K-01 will perform better with faster lenses with AF.

I agree. I was a bit disappointed with the AF focus on the kit lens. But if you are happy with that, you will be even happier if you use it with the 40mm or 70mm prime lenses (or similar).
