I prefer a messenger bag. Zippers are too slow to access, and hard to work while wearing gloves.
Dan,
If I were in the Great White North and wearing gloves I'd be using flaps a lot too. Fortunately we haven't had any snow this year at all, not unusual, and so I can use other types of cases.

Is there a particular messenger bag you like for a light group like a camera and a couple smaller lenses?

I use a Lowepro Event Messenger 150. It's very well thought out. It will accomodate a body with DA 55-300mm mounted, c/w hood and a couple or three spare lenses. The 100 I showed above is the same bag but smaller in size.

Think Tank Retrospective are really nice messenger bags, but higher priced. I have a Retrospective 30, which holds two bodies and a bunch of gear.

I like the security and dust barrier of a zipper, but I can see the utility of the messenger bags. Once I have a particular camera/lens out I tend to work with that for a while. I also like the option of easily removing the strap for travel, although I'm sure it can be stuffed under the flap on the Messenger model.

We use the bags differently. I no longer use a neck strap. If I'm carrying a messenger bag, the camera has a Gordy's or Carry Speed wrist strap attached. When I'm not shooting, the camera is in the bag, so I want quick access.

Makes sense. My only absolute requirement for a bag is that the strap be detachable. I'm always open to new ways of doing things with the camera and gear. Thanks, I'll look at those models.

Nice looking K-01 with some Super-Tak p0rn! so that 0-vf1 costs just about as much at the K-01 (lists for $249) What FL does it match up with on the K-01

Thanks! The viewfinder looks to match around 30mm...not sure the exact, that's just eyeballing it. I bought the 0-VF1 from an online retailer here in Canada that's clearing them out for $99. Haven't decided if I'll keep it yet...but I do think there might be a Q in my future, so I grabbed it while available.

Got a couple of asks where I got the viewfinder. It was Lozeau in Montreal www.lozeau.com, but I just checked and it's no longer listed..looks like their sold out.

Finally got my K-01 from Amazon.

Mine arrived yesterday when I was out of town so tonight is my first look. Battery is charging. I can't believe how small the SMC DA 40mm f2.8 XS is.

The specs say 47mm, so 31mm for APS-C.

I think I've found the perfect legacy lens with matching yellow-red-green highlights for the yellow K-01 - the Super Ozeck II 28mm Macro:

(I believe the OZECK is possibly a Vivitar 28mm Close Focus rebranded for the Comet retail group in the UK).

@Doundounba -- Saw your pictures above. Is it safe to put heavy long lenses on the K-01? Bought a 645-K adapter, and my 645-A 150mm on the K-01 is HEAVY! Can the K-01 lens mount handle heavy telephoto Pentax lenses?
