@Doundounba -- Saw your pictures above. Is it safe to put heavy long lenses on the K-01? Bought a 645-K adapter, and my 645-A 150mm on the K-01 is HEAVY! Can the K-01 lens mount handle heavy telephoto Pentax lenses?
I believe your lens is 500g. I've used the A*300 f4 with no concerns (850g). I know Ron (Brandx) at DPR uses a Bigma (1970g).

Good! Metal body! Metal lens mount! The K-01's a REAL camera! Thanks for letting me know... I had thought, that because it was selling so cheap, maybe it was made cheap. But no... sounds like it's as solid as a... a brick!

You know, in your picture... that lens looks just right to glue a little sight on the top of it, to match with another little sight glued onto the plastic thing that comes in the hotshoe.

Well, I don't have anything *super* heavy... The 35-105mm/F3.5 is about 635g, and the Tamron 80-210 is about 650g. I know the camera feels plenty solid, and it has a metal frame, so I'm not worried. In any case, when I put a heavy/long lens on, I tend to cup the lens with my left hand when shooting (which is needed to focus anyway as my heaviest lenses are MF). Then the camera mount doesn't have to bear the whole weight of the lens. In fact, I do that even with my Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.5, which does have AF.

That being said, from a balance perspective, I think anything heavier than about 650g is probably more than I would like to have hanging from the front. Nothing to do with the strength of the body though, just a question of "feel" and balance.

Well, I'd toyed with buying the MELLOW YELLOW K 01 with the 40mm, but it seems unavailable. Waited too long, alas. I'll watch for a used example.

I considered today buying the Yellow K-01 body-only and waiting to get a DA40XS from a kit splitter. Unfortunately the lens has a delta of $58.94 on the Black kit versus body-only and the lens alone seems to go for $125 or more here recently. So now we're at $425 +/- for a backup K-01 kit, which is not nearly so good a deal.

I then looked at the Black kit - even put it in the Cart.

I passed. I'll just have to be happy with one Black K-01 and the DA40 Limited.

Cry me some tears.

In honour of the Ricoh takeover

My first SLR was a Ricoh KR-5 with a 50mm f2. There was a couple of ME Supers in between and finally a Ricoh XR-S with a 50mm f1.4. I have since picked up numerous 2nd-hand Pentaxes and their associated lenses.
The Rikenon 50mm f1.4 is a damn fine K-mount lens that works perfectly fine on the K-01 using the "Magic Tape" method of nulling the contacts so it behaves like a stopped down screw mount lens.
My eyes are rubbish now, so a hand grip is on the way to replace the Newson strap that I really like. It might end up on one of the legacy cameras.

Just got the black K-01 today, paired with my favourite lenses: Tamron Adaptall 300mm f5.6, pentax 17mm f4 fisheye, pentax da21 limited. So far I'm loving it!
