Is K-01 small enough to carry in coat pocket?

Hiya

I go jogging a lot, and I have tried taking my K5. It worries me all the shaking it is getting though, especially with the mirror. I was thinking a K-01 would be a good jogging and shove in a coat pocket camera. Especially with the 40mm on it, and maybe a 15mm Ltd in the other pocket. Is is small enough to fit in a raincoat type pocket? And robust enough to be shook around?

Thanks,

Jez

I can fit my K-01 with the 40mm xs in some pockets. But I wouldn't go jogging with it, its still pretty hefty. I'd get a little snug bag to keep it tight on the body during jogging and even then, I'd rather walk with it than run. While it doesn't have a mirror, it still has SR and focusing motors. But yes, the K-01 is significantly smaller than even the K-r.

It would not be worth the risk - even at the current price. A bit too easy to bump the camera into the on position. One might accidently damage items such as SR or even the linkages between the lens and the camera body

I jog every day and I have a K-01. When I take the K-01 for jogging, I place it in the Lowepro Apex 100AW bag:
Lowepro Apez 100 AW reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database

The bag is very compact while providing some padding to protect the camera. The bag is really small: it is in fact a P&S camera bag and I do not feel it when I run. The bag opening is very simple and quick when I need to take a shot.

Hope that the comment may help.

I agree with hcc. It is a smallish camera, especially with the 40xs and it will fit in the pocket of a jacket. However, I would be concerned about damage from the bouncing while jogging.

I wouldn't consider the K-01 a pocketable camera- there's smaller stuff out there for that.

I would say yes it's small enough, but it's not lightweight enough IMO.
I would go for the Q instead.

Fits in my jacket outer pockets - and in my inner ones too (ski jackets).
