K01 have similar color/pattern moire as K5 IIs?

The comparison is extracted from the recent post in Dpreview for comparing K5 II and K5 IIs. When K5 and K01 were added to the quadrant, it is found that K01 exhibits similar color/pattern moire as foundn in K5 IIs. I wonder why? Does Pentax remove or weaken the AA filter from K01?

You could find the color moire from the other place too.

Good catch...does the K-01 also lack an AA filter?

I remember hearing somewhere the AA filter on the K-01 was only one layer instead of the 3 layers the K-5 has.

I would love to read more about that - I can't imagine I'm the only one who would be THRILLED if my new K-01 had a very weak AA filter!

Also in this comparison you see how much sharper/clearer the detail is on the K5IIs

Definitely - and you can see that the K-01 has more resolution than the K-5, which would support the theory of 'weaker AA than the K-5' but still having an AA filter, unlike the K-5iis.

Aren't they using F9 instead of F8 with the IIs?

Maybe this is why I think my K-01 photos are so much sharper than my K-r photos. I was thinking about whether its the AF or the MP. Might be just this lol

This would mean that the K-01 is the middle of the K-5 and k-5IIs in terms of detail...that would be a good marketing campaign for Pentax!

Trust me, you're halfway convincing me of getting a K-01.

Would 1/3rd of a stop make that much difference to the detail? especially compared to the K5 (in these images)

Thanks, miltona! I definitely saw with my Fuji X100 and its weak AA filter, that the 12MP sensor had closer to the resolving power of the K-5 16MP sensor than a 12MP had any right to. Removing the AA filter gives really impressive results. And since moire has no worries for me in what I shoot, I'm all about getting the AA filter out of the way!

It makes a fairly big difference because of DOF. If you look at the queen's face, you can see that both the II and IIs are much sharper because this. It sort of voids the comparison in a way

Well in real life K-01 does suffer a little bit more from moire then K-5 does. I did take pictures in studio with K-01 that I had to redo with K-5 to avoid moire. So I guess that as stated somewhere the K-01 has less filter infront of the sensor.

К-01 and K30 share the same AA filter - much lighter than K5, a little more working than K5IIs - perfect for me.
What I don't like - I don't like the noise reduction in high ISO(higher than 1600) which I can't turn off.
