Can someone post a sticky on firmware updates?

I finally found the download file, but I can't seem to follow the instructions to install it. There are no extra menu options in my setup->firmware info screen.

You've run the downloaded file to extract the .bin file? I think you have to have the .bin file in the root of the SD card for the upgrade option to appear. The first time, I think I made the mistake of putting it in the DCIM folder (just because I that's where I always go to grab pictures).

It's in the root folder, I followed the instructions exactly, except for the part about waiting for a full battery at least.

Will it really not even show the menu if the battery is not fully charged?

Dunno, but it will refuse to open the shutter for sensor cleaning if it doesn't see enough juice in the battery. Since the update is usually a "hidden" option, maybe they wrote the code to not show it unless all the prerequisites are met.

(Anyone who knows better, feel free to correct me!)

I did my update a couple of nights ago, all went smoothly. My battery wasn't fully charged and I had no problems. All I did was dump the firmware in the SD card (not in any of the folders) and went to the firmware section and kept pressing the right directional keypad until I got the "Update firmware to 1.01" prompt. I don't recall anything out of the ordinary about it.

Well I don't know your age or experience, but if you're young enough that you've never directly used a C:\> Prompt you may be excused for misunderstanding Root Directory.
