K-01 reset

Hey guys, I bought a K-01 as a gift and decided to get it out, turn it on and make sure everything works. How can I reset the camera so the next time it is turned on it will pop up with the language/time and date settings like new etc? Maybe I shouldn't have turned it on but I didn't realise it would be tricky to reset it to factory. Thanks

Bottom of 'wrench' menu 2 is a reset to factory settings - but I will choose not to try it, I like my settings!

I tried that, it resets all your custom options, but doesn't reset the camera to its factory setup.

Hmmm there's a reset in the custom menu too - that's why I thought this was the master reset!
Dear me, must I open the book? Again?!?

pg. 196 - "the following settings are not reset (with wrench menu 2)
Language - date adjust - city/DST - flicker reduction - video out - custom settings"
pg. 197 - the custom settings are reset with custom menu 3

If you keep it, it already knows the time.

you need to take the battery out and wait until the built in battery discharges then the camera will "lose its mind" ...
it could take a few days..

Uummm, no.

Given that the camera has a rechargeable built in back up battery - it will keep the settings for quite some time

>> yes, i said that it will take "some time", when i did it, my K-01 took 3 days before it blanked. Have you actually tried this with a K-01 or are you just bullying?

Sorry to gang up on you Jeff but I've left it for a few days and it hasn't reset, my K-5 doesn't reset if I leave the battery out. And they shouldn't, the internal battery should hold those saved settings for a very long time, that is what it is intended to do. Perhaps the battery in your K-01 is nearly flat already.

I have two Pentax K-01's; one purchased the day it released here in america.

Took the main battery out of the camera when it was fully charged, and left it out of the camera for months. Both the camera body with it's internal battery kept all of the settings and even the main removable battery kept most of it's charge.

I think when you update the firmware it will reset the camera, update it to the latest firmware and don't turn it back on, thats the best I can come up with but it might, I have been on a hiatus from photography cause the weather has been bad and gloomy like a little over a week now, like others no battery in my K-01 popped it in and no problems all setting still there...
