Have you used your DSLR much since getting the 01?

I have to admit that in a week, since my K-01 arrived, I've only picked up my K-5 once.
And that was to take a lens off to try on my 01.
I will get back to it, after the newness (fun-ness?) wears off a bit.

I also wonder how many checked out the 01 in person before buying it.
My guess is that most were like me, and ordered without ever holding one.
Reading the Pentax Forum can be rough on a person's budget.

Pretty much covers my experience too, new-toy syndrome has me using the K-01 to shoot the K-5
Once I've learned better what this can/cannot do (and it starts raining again) the K-5 will come out to play!

About half-n-half. The K-01 gets more attention for "experiments" and exploring this whole "shooting at arms length" thing, but I still go back to the dSLR for regular stuff (and anything that involves a lens bigger than the kit 18-55). I do find I'm using LiveView on the dSLR 'way more than before.

I handled a fake demo unit and determined that the green button was entirely in the wrong position, and that killed any intention to get a K-01, but the quietness of the shutter pulled me back in. I thought it would have limited use for museum shooting, but the more I use it, the more I like the "differentness".

Got the K-5 last fall. Got the K-01 in March. As of today:

K-5: 6,296 photos in 2012
K-01: 13,204 photos in 2012

As an aside. I got a Q in July and have taken 6,540 photos with it. Most, no doubt, with the intervalometer, so that's apples and oranges.

I sold my DSLR to get a K01, my k01 should be here today -- looking forward to having something to travel with -- and focus peaking.

0 pictures taken with the K10d since I got the K-01 a few weeks ago. Have almost 700 pics taken with the K-01 already. Around half of those were taken in one day.

My DSLR, a k10D, was WHY I got the K-01. I dont anticipate using the K10D much more...

I used the lower priced K-01 to have a place to be until I evaluate whether one of the K-5 II's will be my next DSLR or whether its replacement "flagship" is what I want to use for the next 5 years or so

700 shots on the K-01 within one week. K10D - less than 5 and that to get a good further test on a 43 f/1.9 Limited

I put my k-10 up for sale before the k-01 arrived and yes had never handled one before.
I worried about the green button but realized I usually meter a scene and then adjust from there. Even with the k-10 and my 90% manual lenses I was not pressing it constantly. The placement on the k-01 is still easier than getting a meter out of a pocket or bag.

Hmmm....I'm another K10D owner who bought a K-01. And, no, I haven't used the K10D since I got my K-01, although I fully plan to use it in the future. I'm also one who bought the K-01 without handling one. Nobody in town carries Pentax these days so there wasn't anywhere to go check one out.

I also have a K10D in my camera bag and a number of film bodies. I use the K10D often, but for the limited purpose of full-manual shooting at ISO 100, usually outdoors in full sun. The K-01, which uses the mid-range menu anmd single-dial control structure, is more challenging to use for manual control (especially aperture control) but is simply more fun - and oh, my, that sensor with the Prime M imaging engine!!! - and MUCH easier to use with MF lenses.

Now - if Pentax can implement K-01 or better Focus Peaking with PDAF and all the high-end bells and whistles - well then I'll be in a quandary.

Right now there's no overlap.

It's a digital camera with great IQ like a K-01, but with this weird built-in optical viewfinder that uses a floppy mirror-thing. I don't think they'll ever catch on - too complicated.

I've only used my K-5 a few times since getting the Q...and not at all since getting the K-01. I did pick up the K-5 once after the K-01 arrived. But that was to use its battery so I could update the firmware in the K-01.

Of course, I'll go back to the K-5 for a whole lot of stuff after the new-toy syndrome passes. But there is no doubt that Pentax has brought back some old-fashioned fun to photography with the Q and K-01. The only problem with both at the start was the price point. I hope Pentax has learned something good from both episodes.
