Pentax K01 + SMC 28mm M F2.8

I just got a pentax SMC M 28mm F2.8 from ebay for $31 shipped. Lens looks like new, focus ring is smooth as butter, very compact and well built.. Its very dull and grey outside so i havent found much anything to photo -- this was on my lunch break just outside my work.

cropped 50% of the photo out to get rid of unwanted clutter. Lightroom 4.2 for post processing to add contrast, maybe a bit too much. I think its F5.6 100 iso

Great find! Can't go wrong with that purchase judging by the image!

The M28/2.8 is probably my favorite manual lens on the K-01 - nice and small, and easy to focus. A hood helps a little with the contrast (I use the short round metal type).

I just receivied my white K-01 last night and my M 28/2.8 was the first lens that I put on it. As THoog says nice and small and I think the M series of lenses look right at home on the white body.

Nice.

Can't wait to pick up a 28mm.. After the kit 18-55mm, the Pentax-m 50mm f2 was my first lens purchase for the K-01. After that I went to Rokinon 85mm f1.4... I'm really loving manual glass.

Both are just that little too long though... I think the 28mm would be perfect for me.

Going to LA and Vegas soon. Am thinking of maybe just taking the 50mm and 28mm to save weight and sace.

This is what I do with my K-01 these days. A 24mm would be fantastic too, but usually much more expensive than 28mm. I have a Sigma Super Wide II 24mm, but it's sensitive bright light even with a hood. Skin tone is often blown out if the sun is behind me.
I have a bunch of 28mm's from different brands, but when it comes to color the SMC coating is the real deal.

Just purchased a Pentax-M SMC 28mm f2.8 on eBay.

Didn't think they were so pricey. I got my 50mm f2 for $50 AUD... But in Aus and International, looks as though they were going anywhere between $50 and $150..

Had my eye on the f3.5. Never really heard of it before, but the price was getting a little high. So I just jumped on an f2.8... Looks to be in good condition.. Can't wait to try it out.

Here's one with the M28 f2.8- albeit with a K20D...

F-- error with smx 28mm manual lens

I'm bumping this thread, hopefully somebody can help. I bought a k-01 and an SMC manual focus 28mm lens. It sounds from some threads like this combo can work, but I am getting the F-- error on the screen, which I believe means the camera and kens cannot communicate. Is it possible the lens is too old and doesn't have the right electronic connections even though it is a manual focus lens?

Have you set your menu to Custom 3 > 16. Using Aperture Ring > 2 Enable?

Better still, have a read of this excellent thread, particularly the first post, which explains a lot when it comes to using manual lenses on your K-01:
