New K-01

I received my Pentax-01 last night. After changing a bunch of settings and updating the firmware it seems pretty responsive. Like many have mentioned the form does not follow function, It is not a one hand camera like the K-r or K-5 are. I am going to put a black rapid sling or something like that on it so it will be easier to use. It looks pretty good with the DA 40. Looks sharp on the few test photos I shot, and I picked up a FA 28 F2.8 off of wee-bay to use as my "normal" lens.
Hope to post some images this week end.
Cheers,
Joe

Great! Yep, its kind of different from DSLRs, but it has its perks. But what do you mean its not a one hand camera? I try to use both hands when shooting with the K-r, so the photo is more stable/less shaky, but the K-01 I often use with one hand because it is smaller and more balanced (because I use it with pancake lenses).

Congrats on your new 01 Joe!
I have an OP/Tech wrist strap on my K-5 and K-01.
As others have stated, thumb on the shutter button is the way to go for a one handed hold.

It just doesn't fit my hand the same way as a dslr does. It seems less secure in the hand. I suppose that I will get used to it in time.

I one-hand 90+% of the time with the K-01 - I even replaced the neck strap with a lanyard-type wrist strap from a P&S. Like robtcorl said, 'thumb-on-shutter' seems natural on the K-01 (I call it the 'gangsta grip' ).

On the other hand - use the camera as you like it. I find the K-01 more liberating than a classic DSLR. As long as you enjoy it and you get the shots you want
