Preventing wind noise on K-01?

I did quite a bit of video with my K-01 when I was on holiday in Australia. I have no issue with the quality of the video and much of the sound was perfectly adequate for my needs (I have no plans on getting into serious video).

Has anyone found a way of preventing the horrendous wind noise that is present in even fairly light winds? Someone on another forum commented that they had put something over the microphones to reduce or eliminate it, but on the K-01 there is only a narrow gap behind many of my lenses and the microphone holes so I'm not sure how I would cover them up without blocking them completely?

I have seen this:

Sony ECM HGZ1 - Microphone - zoom: Amazon.co.uk: Camera & Photo

which has the capability to be convered by a wind shield. But before I invest in one, I wondered if anyone had tried any DIY methods of limiting or reducing wind noise?

You need an external mic, and a dead cat on your mic.

Here is my K5 video rig, but you get the idea.

Here is the mic I use

Audio-Technica Pro-24CM - Stereo Microphone PRO 24CM B&H Photo

I also have this one, but I like my Audio Technica better.

Rode VideoMic Camera Mounted Shotgun Mic & Dead Cat Wind B&H

I also use one of these

Lauren thanks for your advice.

Unfortunately B&H won't ship that one to the UK and the cost in the UK is about twice what they are charging. So I've ordered the Sony from Amazon and will report how well it performs in due course.

Another common windsock/shield material is good old urethane foam. Try fixing some small pieces over the microphone opening with something that won't damage the camera body. Blue tack, school glue or maybe rubber cement (test first). Just take care not to get the glue/blue tack into the opening.
