Bulb mode will work with IR remote -- just tried it.
Thanks, I though so as I had seen some photos that used bulb that were VERY sharp. The JJC remote is a really nice and inexpensive piece of kit, I own 4 for my K-5, K-x, and Q.

Here's the thread on making a "wired" wireless remote:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/do-yourself/186110-make-wired-release-any...ir-camera.html

For my wireless, I have an "All for 1" universal remote that can work a TV, VCR, DVD, and Satellite receiver. I don't have a dish, so I use that mode for my cameras. When programming it, I just stepped through all the 4-digit codes until I found one that worked (a Sony TV, I think).

If you don't want to wait on a wireless trigger, you can use the old hat method. Hat over lens, shutter in T, trip shutter, remove hat. Reverse for closing the shutter. Helps cut down on handling shake very well, as long as you don't catch your hat on the lens.

WHAT?

I had taken it as an article of faith that the K-01 didn't support bulb exposures via IR remote. There are seemingly COUNTLESS threads on here, and reviews at other sites, that confirm it. It was something that, honestly, was keeping me from even considering a K-01. Such a stupid user-hostile fake limitation!

And now I learn that everything I thought I knew was wrong! I am going to sell all my gear and move into a commune to find myself. And I will share this new information with my unshaven flaxen-robed comrades, and we will preach it to the world.

Rejoice with me: K-01 BULB MODE IS SUPPORTED VIA IR REMOTE!

Take your new K-01 with you, post some photos along the way, it'll be an interesting reportage.

Okay...sorry. Probably a total idiot question (I havent used a camera with anything longer than a 4 second exposure for about 20 years) -- What is "T" mode?

I thought the unshaven flaxen-robed guys already were in the K-01 cult! Are you telling me there's ANOTHER cult out there?

T (for "Time", I think) mode is like B ("Bulb") mode, except instead of the shutter staying open as long as you hold the shutter button down, it opens on one push, then closes on a second push. I've got a 1915 Kodak that has both.

I'd like to take a moment off topic to express my deep admiration for this online community
Extremely helpful & prompt, glad to see my choice to go with a K-01 had benefits beyond the camera & using it

This may be a totally stupid question, but could you interface a wired radio remote receiver via an adaptor to the usb port?

I am in accord with dstructor -- this is a fantastic online community! Tried the JCC remote -- this is about a 5 minute exposure. TV the only light source. Bulb mode, 2 press shutter open/close. F22, ISO 100 using a Phoenix Wide angle zoom 19-35mm at about 20mm, set to "A". Knowing that this actually works is a real game changer. Thanks so much! I am still going to try the hat method though!

FYI!
The T-Mode (Bulb mode where 1 press opens shutter & another press closes shutter) is found in the K-01 under Menu, C1, 7. (Bulb Mode Options -> Mode2)

EDIT:
Fool Proof: Open camera in shooting mode (one where you take pictures in), Press Menu, In the top scroll to menu C [1], scroll down to number 7, choose Mode 2 (Read explanation at the bottom of the LCD)

No. The sensor is not sensitive to IR frequencies.
