The white kits with the 40mm lens are back in stock at B&H for $379! I just ordered one and cancelled my amazon order. It will arrive on Tuesday.

The black kits are also in stock for $369

My white kit with 40mm lens has shipped from B&H and I just ordered it this morning!

I wanted the white kit all along anyway and made an emotional decision that the extra $65 dollars and instant gratification was worth it. I was trying to be frugal, but emotions won.

Amazon is usually excellent...the only times that I seem to encounter issues is when I order cameras! A couple years ago, I had ordered a Sigma dpxx that put on back order and next thing I know a couple months went by. I had to cancel and buy something else for a trip. I am glad though because that got me into the MFT space, which I like. Pentax K-01 similar progression...This time around I am not about to jump ship because I already loaded up with lenses (that I hope work because the return dates are long past!). Even suckier for me, az just started collecting taxes from amazon, which apparently means that the price went up for me on top of the delay.

Thanks for the heads up. In for a white one as well. I had to pay for three day shipping but at least I'll have it in time for my trip to Whistler

I ordered the $316.00 yellow K-01 deal from Amazon on Jan 1, I cancelled it today as I am going on a trip this next weekend, and the waiting was killing me. I don't need the 40mm lens as I have the 40mm ltd already, so I went for the $331.00 body only which shipped today and, will have on Tuesday to keep my black K-01 company. Kind of a PITA but .......

FWIW, read on another site that Amazon will receive a new shipment of K-01's on Feb. 12th and begin sending them out, hopefully this is true!

A couple things to note here - BH is always first, and often quick on the trigger to mark items as discontinued simply because they don't have any stock on hand. Second, even if it is just now officially discontinued, that would mean production probably ceased months ago - being officially marked as discontinued does not mean there is not a significant amount of warehouse/in-transit stock that is still en-route to retailers.

A little different than something new.....but I managed to snag not one but 2 Pentax "S"s in black in mint shape. Eric is checking them now and 6 weeks shipping and work so far......torture!

I posted this in the Price Watch thread:

Ho boy... Just checked the status of my order and now I have this message on the Delivery estimate: "Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date." Earlier today it had a window of January 29, 2013 - February 28, 2013 (or somewhere around that, can't remember the exact dates). Is this a good or a bad sign? I'm not sure since I've never really ordered any back ordered items from Amazon.
