I'm about to put the OEM screen back in my K-x, because for manual focus I always (always always ALWAYS) use the K-01 now. I did notice the K-x consistently over-exposes with the split prism, but lived with it and almost always had exposure compensation to -0.7. Looking forward to having it work normally again.

I thought focusing screens had nothing to do with exposure metering. Is this incorrect?

Because the metering sensor is located above the screen, it can affect metering. It depends on the screen, metering mode, and the situation. For example, if you use spot metering on the center with an aperture that has the split-prism screen close to 'blackout', you can get wildly random results. Some of the split-prism screens I have tried were dimmer than others; I could see how that might cause the camera to consistently over-expose.

It's worse with a fast lens than it is with a slow lens too. Altogether it isn't worth the hassle, especially when focus peaking is so much more accurate.

I think putting back the stock screen on the KX is next on my list too.

You are not wrong: a 10-17 is an amazingly fun lens

I just got mine yesterday. And have to say it is alot of fun, with good quality pics. I am just afraid I might miss the noise the K-7 generated, pics will bee too smooth
