I found that my Sigma 17-70mm F/2.8-4 will lock w/ edge detect indicating focus as well, but still be off.

Sigma HSM lenses seem to be hit or miss on the K01. I have two, the 50-200 which works fine, and the 18-128 which never locks focus.

All my non-hsm, screw drive lenses work well but newish screw drive lenses seem to work slightly better. For example my Sigma 17-70, 2.8-4.5 works great. I also have a Sigma 24mm, 2.8 prime lens which works well but occassionally seems slightly off wide open (This same lens works super on my K-5).

I think the DA 35mm, 2.4 on the K01 is just incredible.

FYI - my firmware is 1.01

In my experience, even the DA40/2.8 Limited has some trouble locking focus in lower light, or on a dark subject, without edge boundaries. The lens just cycles stop-to-stop and quits. Moving the focus point to an edge then recomposing solves the problem. Kind of an old-school fix but it works.

My Tamron SP 24-135mm did not work correctly until today. I updated the firmware to the just released version 1.03 and all is well! Maybe it will work for other "problem" lenses?

FYI...Just received a new K01 that had FW1.0...my Pentax 50-135 would not AF. After installing 1.03 it worked fine.

Production ended in September and FW1.01 wasn't released until October, so any new-in-box K-01 will have FW1.00 and should be updated. Any later version is better than FW1.00.

Sigma 50-150mm wont focus on K-01 (and in LV mode on any Pentax) unless firmware is upgraded.

Has anyone tried the Tamron SP 70-200 f/2.8 lens on the K-01 with the new 1.03 firmware?

Since several people have reported the new firmware has enabled AF on some lenses that didn't work in AF before with the K-01 now I'm curious if that applies to the Tamron.

I am on the latest firmware and it DOES NOT work for squat. However, MF works quite well and I use it that way frequently.

For giggles, I just tried it myself. Confirm - no improvement in the AF with this lens or other lenses that didn't AF properly before.

Hello

The Sigma 17-70/2,8-4,5 (non HSM-Version) is mentioned several times - sometimes ok...sometimes not ok.
My 17-70 does not work properly wizh my K01 (FW1.03) - very often it stops totaly out of focus. This is something I can not rely on :-(.

Other Sigmas:
105/2,8 Macro is very slow ond in low light conditions AF-Performance is quite poor.

However:
24/1,8 & 30/1,4 work perfect - fast and accorate :-)
