lcd screen K01

Received my K01 yesterday and I'm sending it back. I suspected a pre owned K01 and I took one photo and went to myshuttercount.com and discovered 43 clicks. Not really a deal breaker but the lcd has a very slight scratch in the glass that I couldn't remove with casual cleaning. Now that was a deal breaker. I'm in the process of exchanging it (don't see any problems there).

I checked the clicks on my KR with zero scratches, NONE 8,993 clicks . 3 yrs old . Been to Italy, Alaska , Yosemite, Mt Rainier, and no scratches. Now, some person had my K01 for probably a day and managed to damage it. Are these materials essentially the same ? (lcd screens) ? Oh one other thing, I opened the box and the K01 did not have film on the lcd glass. Do they get shipped with the protective coating that you peel off ?

No film on the LCD of my K-30 (from Pentax), K-01 (Groupon), or Q (Target online).

I'd be a little disappointed myself if the K-01 had been advertised and sold as new and obviously wasn't (which your verified by the shutter-count).
Hope you can get it exchanged without any problems.

Pentax does not put plastic over the LCD screens.

43 clicks is normal factory shutter test, similar to the 6-12 miles on your new car. My dSLR's have had a many as 200 clicks and were absolutely mint sealed-plastic. Scratched LCD, though, is a defect suitable for an exchange.

I think my k-5 had 11 clicks or so and it was new for sure. Some people have reported over a hundred shots on a new camera. If I recall correctly some manufacturers resets the count before shipping though I like to see the truth and that you see that they actually test the shutters, although some people would rather have all at zero so that the count is lower for an eventual sale.

I would get a scratched screen replaced though even though I got scratches on all my cameras after usage.

I bought mine with the new firmware installed. Seller said shutter count of "1". But file number showed 400+. I suspect the new firmware "zeros" the EXIF data. Any one know if this is true?
